My name is Yani and I love coming here whenever I can. I have recently bought many items from here, little key chains and cool knick knacks. I also recently got a statue of Guan Gong and a frame blessed here. This place is full of strong energy, positive chi as one other reviewer put it. If you come here, be respectful and browse, and if you don't buy anything, donate a dollar.
This is the Daoist temple I go to monthly. The monks and nuns are kind, although most speak mandrin only. Follows and shares the 3 treasures with the community well. There is a store in the front.
Yes, this is a very religious place. Be respectful. It is also a store with a lot of Buddhist & Daoist jewelry & statues for sale. The attendant/caretaker speaks no English & is not tolerant of anyone who is not there to pray, donate, or buy. She is a fierce protector of her Cantonese religious clients, so photos & note-taking may be met with a hostile reaction. Curiousity is not rewarded. Proceed with caution & permission. This is not a museum! The main floor is Daoist; the basement is a Buddhist temple. There is something here for everyone. This temple is unique in Chinatown for having a full array of the 60 taisui deities. A fascinating & very important temple in Chinatown, well-worth a careful visit! Be always mindful of others who are there to worship or pay respect to the deities present!
This is a place of strong positive chi. For the chi sensitive. It's worth a visit. All are welcome to light come in and light an incense stick to the deities here. 1 Just walk to the back where there's a giant statue of Huang Da Xian. 2 I usually take three incense sticks, light the sticks on the flame floating in the oil. Follow the locals. 3 Take a moment to introduce yourself to the deity while holding the incense. Say "Hi Huang Da Xian, my name is _______ " and tell him the burden on your mind. Some can feel the chi of the deity. After you're done, just bow three times with the incense in hand. 4 Place one incense in the incense pot. 5 Then you can move on towards the front where there's a Si Mian Fo Diety with 4 Faces. You can place an incense in the pot there as well. The original statute of Huang Da Xiang from this temple can be found on the left hand side. You can also place an incense in the pot there as well. 6 Guan Yin Goddess of Mercy is in the basement, the entrance is towards the back left hand corner. You can also light an incense here as well.
Miniature temple of beloved original HK Wong Tai Sin temple. Temple is run like a commercial business. It does serve some people needs.
