This is school is really nice, can be better with classes choices but it's getting there. Many good teachers and programs that can help you throughout the future. The sports are really good and competitive.
The building itself is not very well taken care of and is very old. However on the education side this school is very good at teaching. The teachers are wonderful and they actually help you learn.
So, let me tell you what just happened. I got a call from Seans school to go up there cause he was misbehaving in class. So I told them my husband was at work and im disabled and have to walk up there so it may take a while. He said no worries. So i put Deedees service dog vest on and walk up there. As i walk into the school the security guards yell from across the hallway that i cant bring "that dog in here". I told him yes i can because its illegal for him to deny me access under the ADA. He hesitantly let me in. I go handle Sean and they told me to go to the front office to sign paperwork. We go into the main office and the "secretary" Greg Aparicio comes to the desk and rudely asks "is that a service dog?!" I said yes thats what her vest says : he condescendingly says "yeah my dog at home has a vest too but that doesnt mean anything. Do you have the paperwork saying thats a service dog?!" I snap back at him saying there is no "paperwork" to prove shes a service animal under the ADA" Then he asks whats wrong with me that i need one. I told him thats illegal to ask me that. At this point im mortified as hes berating me in front of people then he has the nerve to ask why im getting upset?! I asked for the principal and she wasnt there. So i asked for anyone can be called he said oh yes im calling someone in a threatening way. So the asst principal came and she was just as rude and unprofessional as he was?! So i got upset and started to cry and then because i was upset i started to shake uncontrollably my hands couldnt sign the paperwork and my legs were completely unstable to where i had to grab deedee so I didnt collapse. The fact that I had to suck it up and admit to myself that i needed help and got Deedee is a huge thing. And to be humilitaed by the school for having her??! Im at a loss for words! Hubbard High School can do better!
Even tho it lacks some stuff, just like other public high schools. Hubbard is the school that always interacts with the students, offers better programs and etc.
The school is amazing! The classes are smaller and will help you be successful in life as much as the ib programs
