Industries shall include ice harvesting, brick making, boat building, blue stone quarrying, cement, coal, crushed tone, and any other identified as important. The primary period of emphasis shall be the 19th and 20th centuries.
The Museum will create and maintain a body of information in the form of a library and archives which are available to the pubic for research. The Museum will develop public awareness of the history of life, communities, and industry along the Hudson River through its exhibits, lectures, programs, publications, and festivals.
The Museum will seek to create and foster an awareness, on the part of the public, of the river environment and ecology, and the need to preserve this environment. It will create an awareness of waterfront revitalization efforts and foster public advocacy for planned recreational development along the Hudson River and its tributaries.
