A great trailhead park with access to multiple choices of trails and hikes. A few picnic tables available to use before or after your hike and bathrooms. Beautiful scenery. The trails are great and beautiful and you can’t go wrong with any hike in this area.
It's gorgeous up here, the top of Idyllwild CA. We didn't know you needed a hiking pass for Devils Slide trail, they have park personnel attending the entrance to that hike asking for your pass however there are a few other hikes here you can do without a pass.
Hiked Devil's Slide to Taqhuitz peak Fire Lookout... Awesome trail, well maintained, populated, but not too much. The view at the lookout is spectacular! We came across a Forest Park Ranger, who was friendly and available to answer any questions or concerns. If you go, just make sure that you've got your wilderness permit on hand, because they will ask you for it.
Simply gorgeous! I aimed to be hiking at sunset and I got it. Check the website before going as there's a park pass required for your car and a trail pass to be carried while hiking. The first can be an annual National Park Card or one other. Definitely worth the winding road to get there. Not very busy when I arrived around 4pm.
Devils Slide Trailhead is here. One of the 2 great hikes near Idyllwild. Some visitors ignore the "pass" requirement before going to trailhead in Humber Park then complains about getting car towed. I think they should've issued tickets, not towed the cars, but... It's National Forest Land. Stated clearly: "Adventure Pass or a National Parks Pass required; acquire before arriving at Humber Parking Lot." Hiked the trail on 3/25/2021.
Nice easy climb to Saddle Junction. Devils Slide Trail is a Great hike for everyone. Really enjoyable if water is flowing in the creeks. Be prepared and take plenty of water and food. Saddle junction is a great spot for a picnic lunch. Dog friendly.
We did part of the Devils Slide trail. There are breathtaking views once you get high enough. Such views are comparable only to what I saw in Utah, however that is not in close proximity to Los Angeles. I recommend taking the trail to have a fun time.
Great place to start many good to great hikes from. I have been here many times and there are never more than 20 cars here. With so many options to hike that means your more than likely not see many people if any at all. Me and a buddy left here one time and there were 17 cars in the lot. We hiked for.16 hours and saw one group of three people in that time.
Great trail for amateur hikers and families. Grade up to junction is not too severe. Striking views, trees, and wild birds along the way. Also got to see a nice snake curled up on the side of the trail.
Beautiful park for hiking
