|| About Our Farm ||
Humble Harvest Farm is a small scale family-run organic farm in North Springfield, Vermont. Our land is settled in Precision Valley, happily nestled between mountains near the Connecticut River. Humble Harvest Farm was established in 2016 by the Mahers - Caitlin (Farmer/Owner) & Michael (Co-Owner).
|| Our Farming Philosophy ||
We are an all organic / non-GMO farm (please see the 'Why Not Certified Organic?' section below for more information). We believe in transparent farming. We believe in providing any information for our consumers to feel comfortable and safe with the food they feed their families. We believe that the most natural way is always the best way. We believe in organic farming from seed to table. We believe in learning every year from the land. We believe that a farmer’s best friend is the soil, and if taken care of and nurtured, the soil will bless our community with food for years to come. We believe in living GMO, chemical, pesticide, and herbicide-free lives. We believe in our community and our residents who deserve affordable, delicious organic food and goods that are grown nearby.
|| About the Farmer ||
Caitlin was born with a love for animals and the outdoors. For the past 7 years, she has dedicated herself to learning various methods of organic farming, gardening, and wildcrafting. More than just an interest, organic living is truly a passion and she weaves her philosophies into every aspect of life. After years of hard work pursuing their dreams, Caitlin and her husband moved to North Springfield in 2016 and have been working hard to turn their humble piece of land into the farm of their dreams.
|| How We Grow ||
Everything at Humble Harvest Farm is organic. All seeds used on the farm are certified organic and non-GMO. All wildcrafted goods are from sustainable sources on our land. All soil amendments (i.e. earthworm castings) and fertilizers (i.e. seaweed extract) are organic and natural. They are used sparingly, only as necessary for the health and wellness of our soil and crops. For crop health and soil vitality, we practice biologically intensive growing methods and crop rotation.
|| Why Not Certified Organic? ||
We will be applying for organic certification through Vermont Organic Farmers (VOF) in 2018. This is our first year working with our land; we are focused on nurturing the soil & building community relationships this year. 2018 will be focused on certification to further demonstrate our dedication to organic methods.
