We specialize in high quality ingredients and beautiful platings. What distinguishes us from most Chinese restaurants is that our dishes are homemade. The egg rolls, summer rolls, and winter rolls are personally hand-made from scratch by Mae. The sweet and sour sauce is homemade using fresh fruits basted for hours. The decorations are all prepared by Mae herself.
Established in 1984 Hunan began with owners Tom Wu and Mae Chen who moved from Taiwan in 1980 and from Madison, Wisconsin in 1984. Hunans began as a simple menu and slowly evolved to a full-scale buffet restaurant. In the recent decade, Mae decided to use high quality ingredients and switch to fresh, healthier selections. With this change, the menu was revamped, but with past favorites still on the menu. Mae continues to evolve the menu and loves feedback from customers. Meals can be made specific to each customer's taste. Just ask! Currently, Hunan helps cater to various events and has enough room to host business, wedding, and large family events. Mae continues to love her job of serving, cooking, and decorating plates for the customer's enjoyment.
