Huntington Behavioral Health

I just received my medical records in the mail today. I have been reading over them, and found incorrect records, which means these records are fraudulent. It states many times, I hung up on the person I was speaking to in the office. Gavin, was well aware of the person who was being rude and hung up me before I could even say goodbye. This exact occurrence happened many times with my daughter , ……..Gavin apologized. When I spoke to Dr Spangler, he said verbatim…that the office is having a lot of problems they are trying to fix. Dr Spangler also wanted me to talk to the owners on a conference call. I have had Dr Spangler as a doctor for many years. I had never had any problems until he went to Huntington Behavioral Health. We had a great relationship, and never was there any problems. When I was in for my last appointment, he asked if I took a urine test, I said “ no” I stated that that test will not show klopin in my system and either will the wrong blood test, he agreed. CONFIRMED BY THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE… Dr Spangler Huntington Behavioral Health lab tech Lab Corp in Huntington, lab tech That the wrong test and most tests WILL NOT SHOW KLONOPIN! After telling Dr Spangler at my last visit that no I didn’t take the test, I said, “ I will take it if you want me to, but it will not show anything “ Dr Spangler’s response, “ yes that’s right, don’t worry about it, you don’t need to do it” We then preceded with my appointment, which as usual went great. I then left, and was called back in to come take the test. I explained to the person that called, I was just there, and I asked if I needed to take it, and Dr Spangler said no. I told the person who called me that the office is a mess, and unprofessional. I told the person, I live in Winfield, and I work Assisted Living, my time is valuable! I did not need to go back for an office mistake and what I was told by my doctor, Dr Spangler. I was never out of compliance with any rules. I did what I was told. It is also stated in my medical records, when I called the office that I wanted to talk to you. She said you were with another patient.On the record I am reading … she quotes me saying, “ anytime I have an issue with you people “ I would never speak improper grammar “ you people” Then it continues on to say, they called me back , but my phone was disconnected. My phone has never been disconnected. Lab Corp, in Huntington and Teays Valley has witnessed the wrong tests sent to them, wrong codes. Both clinics stated, that Huntington Behavioral Health did not know what they were doing, and needed to be educated. Also leaving her without medication because your phones were messed up. Antipsychotic meds that are never to be stopped abruptly. This was also discussed with Dr Spangler. He was not happy, and stated that should have never happened to her! The problem in this office is not Dr Spangler, it’s the office that is incompetent, unprofessional, uneducated, and rude. This is also mental anguish for my daughter and I, to the point of her not being able to go to work. This is supposed to be a caring environment that helps patients with their mental illnesses , and not make them worse. I would like to also express, I have seen my internal med doctor, my psychologist, my psychiatrist, and all of my other physicians in the past couple of months. Every single one of them said, and I quote their words, “ I heard this place was a mess” “ I heard this place was a joke” in reference to Huntington Behavioral Health. I nor my daughter has never hung up on anyone in that establishment! Your office treated my daughter and I like uneducated drug addicts. My daughter has her Bachelors degree, she knows that what happened in that office was ridiculous and made her feel as if she was nothing. My daughter’s father makes 300k a year, she is not hard up for money to sell her meds. She has exceeded in every aspect of her life. I’m sickened by Huntington Behavioral Health and the treatment we have received.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could do not go here unless you want to be disrespected and belittled and when you call them out on their lack of compassion they team up on like a bunch of high school bullies, I have talked to my primary doctor who is a nurse practitioner so she could not prescribe the medicine I needed for two years about getting help and didn’t want to at first because I almost felt inadequate asking for help but I should have done better research before picking a place to be referred to at this point I feel so degraded and defeated that I don’t even want to seek help here or anywhere else because I never want to be talked down too and feel so judged like that again I do not understand how people in this type of field where you are supposed help people can treat and talk to them the way they do

Will not refill prescriptions or answer the phone. Waited 3 days past prescription due then tried calling to see what the hold up was I went inside to talk to someone and they told me the prescription was waiting on insurance approvalwhich was a lie. I then called CVS to try and see what I could do to get them approved turns out Huntington behavioral health still had not approved the refillKelly Carte. I called back again 15 minutes before closing I know this is not ideal and everyone wants to go home but 5 times in a row the spewed out “ Thank you for calling Hunting Behavioral Health Please Hold” i literally begged please hold on let me say something I heard a pause and then was transferred to their out of office number. If you’re going to be in a practice for mental health actually care for your occupation, care for your fellow Huntingtonians! I don’t understand if you don’t like the field you’re in please change jobs your putting peoples HEALTH and well being at risk. We all hear the bad stigma’s associated with Huntington and this place doesn’t do it any Justice. I’d ask you guys to please do better but you probably care about these reviews as much as your patients.

They were great until the place changed ownership a couple years ago. I've had nothing but problems since then. They don't answer their phone. They have missed my past three appointments. It's January and I haven't been seen since August. They're continuing to call in my meds if I annoy them enough about it by leaving messages. I asked for my records to be transferred back in November. Two months later, they have not. I've moved. I'm having to travel back to Huntington to try to fix things in person. Reading the reviews shows me I'm far from the only one dealing with this.

Very unprofessional! Do not trust these people with your mental health! I’ve never been treated and made to feel so low in my life.

Not really an environment that listens to your situation. Came for one thing, was stuck in a room by myself to play games on a computer with no explanation why, then was given a totally different diagnosis based off of how i did on those games and they would not listen to anything i had to say that conflicted with those results. They started billing me randomly months later, via an email that had no explanation or even a phone number to inquire about it, just a place to put in credit card info to pay. They would not answer their phone for several days when i tried to get answers. I had to drive up in person to find out, they brushed me off then too. All in all, worse medical experience i have had anywhere in my life. Nobody seems to know what they are doing, total chaos. You are better off going anywhere else.

The woman I’ve talked to on the phone was nice, as was the one who did my telehealth appointment…. Approximately 6 months ago. I’ve now had two cancelled appointments from them. Both times they called a week before my scheduled appointment and cancelled due to “staffing issues”. The most recent one they cancelled has been scheduled for about 3 months. Finally this time I was told I’d have a referral sent to another office who could see me sooner, within a week in most cases. Thankfully I trusted my instincts and called said office myself who said they NEVER received a referral from them for me and are unable to see me for another MONTH. I’ll now have been trying to get a diagnosis for 7 months due to this offices inability to keep their scheduled appointments, all the while I’ve been struggling with my mental health and have been completely helpless to do anything about it. Inexcusable. To be clear I’m only giving two stars because the two women I spoke to were friendly.

Ultimately with regrets I have to say do NOT trust your mental and emotional well-being to Huntington Behavioral Health. This was not always the case but the staff that managed and ran the office were more than rude. I was lied to and intentionally misled when they pushed and I pushed back. I called in with an emergency situation and never received a call back. When I went in for my next appointment I ask questions. I wanted to know what had happened. I have no family and really needed their support. There was a concerted effort to get rid of me. I was a long time patient there. I was dropped as a patient for “noncompliance” because I missed an appointment. They refused to call in my meds while I was trying to get another doctor. I went into full withdrawal, began hallucinating and had a bad car accident on March 10, 2020… two days before COVID-19 lock down. I suffer a head injury, my shoulder needed to have surgery, a broken hand, broken teeth, etc. I could not take care of my dog when I finally got home and was w/o him for a year. All of this and me a disabled, handicapped retired teacher. The saddest thing was they knew all about my situation and assumed I was going to sue them. To date I have not but please be careful.

Don't expect to wait less than half an hour for your scheduled appointment, in person and over telehealth. I won't say, "I would rate less than 1 star if possible" because their chairs are comfortable. They have to be if they're making people wait this long. That is the only redeeming quality of this place. Also absolutely 0 mask compliance with any of the front staff. I literally saw one of the ladies cough into her hand and continue with her day.

They keep accepting patients even though they clearly are past their max capacity. I went there and all my appointments are a month to a month and a half out so if you miss a appointment it will be two months from your last visit before you see anyone so if you miss two appointments your literally waiting four months. Their auto email system is messed up for reminders they send 50% of the reminders on time the other 50% I receive day after appointment. Do not go here.
