First off the 4Star rating is really for the stellar care that Dr. Welling gives to all our pets. I have done walk-in and appointment visits, all very good with Dr. Welling, a pleasant, very qualified vet. My most recent was a walk-in that had some urgency to it and when I got home I noticed on my bill that they charge $10.00 for a walk-in fee. Okay something new but the office manager said it was due to Covid and current staffing levels. It didn't agree with me but just letting everyone aware of this add-on charge. Felt like a penalty after waiting over two hours which I knew I was getting into.
I really used to love this place. No appointments and was told to walk in. Waited 3 hours and finally called back. They checked out my dog. Did xrays of her nose and chest. Then they did blood work and the vet said she would call later. Had to call the next day for results. Return call was after 630 pm. I understand there is a shortage of vets and techs. Call 4 days later and left 2 messages as my dog is not getting better. No call back. Now I have to start over. I hope she does not have a foreign body in her nose.will be going to another vet. The hold message states they will treat your pet like their own.
I've been coming here for years! Front Desk: so so Vet assistants & vets: Phenomenal. My pets always get treated with so much love and kindness. Cleanliness: The bathroom is always clean, and rooms tend to be clean Wait time: Never ever on time even w/ an appointment!
Had to think a bit about how I wanted to leave my displeasure of this establishment. If you want to take your animal here for wellness check or maybe vaccines it might be ok, but if your animal has serious issue avoid at all cost. Trying to get medication refilled for the last year has been nearly impossible without having to call multiple times, and when you do call expect to be hung up on. Second of all the receptionist manager is extremely rude and has zero customer service skills, if you have a complaint about something they do not care they have better things to do behind their desk like talk and laugh. Third the hospital manager doesn't want to fight for your business, when I told her I was going somewhere else for vet care she said she was glad, why would anyone in their right mind be happy that they are losing business and not fighting to keep someone. Yes we have to make atleast 8 trips a year to the vet for our two dogs and spend a couple thousand dollars in a year with blood work, check ups and vaccines is just a drop in the bucket but if you throw away enough of those drops they add up very quickly. This absolutely pains me to write this, my family has been going here for 40 years I even remember the old wall paper at the old little building but I guess those found memories are all I will be able to hold on to. Oh and for Huron Animal Hospital ever reading their Google reviews, they don't, no care for the social media world that consumes most of America today. Yes I know people will continue to bring there animals here but I hope enough people see this and think twice and reconsider their choice. To Izzy and Paula thanks for taking good care of our dog with seizures and cancer but you front office is your down fall hopefully things get fixed but I will not go back after stressing if I was going to get critical medicine refilled for our dog. Good luck and I hope you get things turned around.
I use to love the Doctors and staff here. There are still some amazing doctors but overall the staff is rude and condescending. I would love them to educate people rather than be rude especially in minor situations that are easily fixed. On top of that they are very inconsistent and expensive. I look forward to trying a new vet.
BEWARE of horrible customer service, lying to your face and poor stitch jobs during surgery. Brought our dog in for surgery from a dog attack and they did surgery $600 on a Thurs and were told to come back Monday a few days later to get his drain pulled out. Saturday a bunch of stitches came undone. Went in Monday and they said they can't help me as they had two techs call out. So not only did they tell me to come in Monday morning, but they wouldn't fix the stitches that came out because of their poor surgery job. A decent business would tell a customer to call first to make sure they can assist with pulling the drain out of his neck and not tell them to just come in and drive 15 miles. But not only that, they refused service when their stitches came out from their surgery and I had to wait til the next day to go back and they had to put him under again and redo the entire thing. Same day Doctor Heller told my girlfriend that they wouldn't be charging us again because they messed up and when she went to pickup our dog later that day they said we owed $300 more dollars, even though the doctor said no charge. So Doctor Heller straight up lied to my girlfriend and billed us for another surgery when they could have done it right the first time. They demanded payment after 2nd surgery and Doctor Rick Heller came out and said he would bill us and we can make payments since they screwed up. Then the office manager lady came out and was yelling at us to give her our card number to have it on file to charge us even thought the doctor said he would bill us in order to give us a couple weeks to pay what he said he wouldn't be charging because of their initial poor surgery job. The office manager lady literally told us that only "The Vet" can authorize us to make payments and the Doctor was literally yelling at his own office manager to stop asking us in a condescending way for our credit card and to bill us instead so we can make a couple payments. Today 11/30/22 we had our dogs stitches taken out and they called demanding payment saying the Doctor cannot authorize anyone to make payments even though the Doctor said we could make payments and they'd bill us. So now they say the Doctor can't authorize anyone to make payments even though she office manager said he was the only one who could in first place. They tell lies on top of lies because nobody there is on the same page and don't practice good business ethics . This place is a joke and I guarantee I'm not the only one who's gone through this mess.
Very friendly and gentle, they got my dog in fast and did a great job. They even called me afterwards to check on my dog. My dog was never scared and even talked to the vet. My dog normally barks at everyone she didn't bark once.
We went in the different times and the first time we were there it was because my dog scratched his eye, but they told us that they couldn't find anything. We went back and they did the same tests and found the scratch. By this visit we had already paid over $300. At this time they should have recommended a specialist, but they told us to come back again. We knew the scratch was still there and they did the dye test even though we were against it. He did the test and said there is nothing he can do. So we had to pay again for the stupid dye test. I will never go here again.
I have always brought my pets here but they NEVER give me the right price when I call and I had my appointment times off by 30 minutes when I brought two pets. It’s gotten worse here from a few years back. Very sad, they can’t seem to keep a groomer either so I assume they pay bad to their employees. Very disappointing for a hospital. The surgery’s I had here went very well though
