In 10/2017 I had the most horrible treatment in the E R, my platelets had gone down to 4 and my oncologist was out of town so I went to urgent care at the clinic, passed out on the floor and was taken to the ER bia ambulance. Once there it was total maddening. I was give 3 choices, 1 University of Omaha, 2, St Francis Wichita or 3 , Wesley Wichita. I won't go into the details of this visit but I lost all trust and faith in the ER department and vowed to never set foot in it again. However due to some recent medical emergency I had no choice to return to the local ER. In 2021 and received excellent care Last month I had returned to the Er with chest pain and was treated by the PA that had treated me wrongly in 2017. I wasn't sure if it was it her due to the fact that the last time I saw her she wore a mask. I don't know is she remembered me but she was so kind and attentive with my care that I was curious. Once she wrote her name on the whiteboard I knew immediately it was her. I was treated with the best care, I don't know if she remembered me but I had written her a letter after the trauma I experienced in 2017 and stated " I hope the next time you step into the elimination room, you think of me and treat that better than you did me". I think she did. Well done Amy, well done Linda Guieb
Just had surgery today and I have to say the care team here have been fantastic to me the whole time thank you hutch regional for taking your time to fully understand and help solve my medical issue. The orthopedics floor nurses are all awesome and very intentive to my care great work guys.
This hospital tells a patient that if she doesn't put $16,000 up front for surgery, they will cancel it. She is told this the day before surgery. How many people can do that? A payment agreement had been made for $200 down and the rest by payments til paid off. The hospital went back on their word. Spoke to one person who said surgery would not be cancelled, then one calls and says the $16,000 had to be paid or be cancelled . Another said they could get her financial aid and surgery would be done. In the end it was cancelled because she couldn't come up with $16,000 overnight. She now may lose her job since her knee is so bad she can't work. Also, they had given her time off to do surgery and rehab and they can't continue to take her off schedule and she still doesn't get the surgery. She has now hopefully gotten financial help but why wasn't she helped ahead of time? She hopes this does work and not another mixup. She is waiting for the reschedule to be done. Once this is all done and taken care of we might be able to give a better review. Hopefully they will improve how they deal with requesting so much upfront and scheduling. It didn't take long for it to all fall apart. They are now refusing to give financial aid because she didn't tell them that her insurance had denied it. Well, that is why she needs financial aid. Her insurance had wanted her to fly to Minnesota or some state for the surgery and someone had to go with her. She doesn't have someone to go. But they refuse to do it here. What sense does that make?. So now the surgery is off again. This really stinks. Told her to call guest relations as suggested here. Don't know if that will do any good. Surgery on and off, on and off isn't good for her mental health.
The amount of time patients have to wait to be diagnosed is atrocious! I was already there for four hours when a nurse that wasn't even assigned to me told me two and a half hours had passed since the cat scan had been sent off and it'd probably be another hour before they heard back with results. There's no real reason a visit to any doctor should take 6hrs let alone four unless it's a real medical emergency, thankfully in my case it wasn't but I feel for any patient here that does have an emergency because you just may not make it out of there alive with the snail pace they move at and the time they spend doing unnecessary tests just to bill your insurance for more money. They're absolutely useless.
My daughter's surgeon and surgical team was amazing. And all the nurses up until last night were great. Her night nurse was rude. Was I really hurting something sitting there quietly in the dark not leaving the room not bothering anybody. Just being there for my daughter while she recovered from her very first major surgery since she was a year old. Was it really hurting anything her having her comfort there of her mother. I don't think it was but this is why Hutchinson hospital has such a bad reputation. Because the nurses don't care about anybody but theirselves. Not their patients, not anybody but themselves. This is why I choose to do my surgery and hospital visits in Wichita or Salina. I would call out the night nurse on here except her name is strange and I cannot say it let alone spell it but I do not think that you need to be working with people and she will know who she is if she sees this. I want to add I had breakfast in the cafe and Jesse I think the cooks name was was very nice and professional.
May 24th, when I took my adult daughter to the ER, they were packed with patients. All 18 rooms in back were filled and the waiting room was packed as well. Despite the severe overload, she received the most courteous, competent, complete care I could imagine. The triage nurse Erica could barely talk from straining to call out names of the people waiting, and though clearly wearied, she was kind, caring and efficient. Later another nurse traded places with her to give her voice a rest. Nurse Maddie and Tech Natalie were a dream team for us. Maddie even offered ME a blanket, as it was cold in there, and despite the rush and they were keeping it fast paced she had perceived my needs. They worked flawlessly in sync. The PA, Bert, ordered all the right tests, diagnosing and attending her needs, as well as being helpful with aftercare suggestions to help obtain needed services and prevent future occurrences. He also made sure we were promptly attended and dismissed after her results were all in. Due to being overwhelmed with patients, staff from other areas of the hospital were coming in to assist ER staff. ICU nurse Wendy? came and administered the IV antibiotics my daughter needed. There was an MRI tech who came in to perform her CT scan. It was a beautiful team effort to accomodate the need. I was so impressed. I wish I knew the name of every person who administered care that day. I am forever grateful. Every single person we encountered had reason to be overwhelmed and cranky, but they were all efficient and excessively kind. Truly passionate about caring for others. We were blessed with a great team that day.
If I could leave zero stars, I would. This hospital is an absolute joke. A woman who is a transplant recipient as well as a survivor of multiple stokes and heart attacks was told her raging headache and complete loss of vision was due to a migraine. Let me add that it took 7 hours for them to come to that pathetic conclusion. Two days later, Newton Medical Center figured out she had a stroke and has been quick and efficient on giving care. Save your frustration and most likely your life and make the drive to Newton.
There's so much good stuff here so many good people, and they do such good work that I'm just going to flat out say that Hudson regional hospital saves lives. Hands down a great hospital
Have been here for almost 5 hours with my brother that possibly has appendicitis been waiting 3 hours on cat scan results have watched multiple people that have waited over 2 hours to be seen even one throwing up blood walked out and as I sit back there with my brother I see most people just standing around chatting like isn't this supposed to be a hospital not somewhere where your like ope I might have appendicitis but at this point it's better just to go home
A year ago my son died in this hospital due to the negligence of the medical staff. He was 38 yrs old and Covid positive. I took him to get an infusion treatment here as his Dr advised & scheduled the appointment to do so. He was type I diabetic & the treatment caused him to go into dka state within a day. I called 911 & emts carried my son out of his home with his pants down and took him to this horrible facility against my wishes as I told them I insist he be taken to a Wichita Hospital. A few days later the hospital called me & wanted the ok to send him to Denver to be put on an Eccmo machine. I declined so they gave up and assisted my son to die. He died on Jan 19, 2022 totally unnecessarily. I will be adding more reviews to share the awful experience I went through with this hospital hopefully aiding to prevent future unnecessary deaths of patients and the misery & agony it causes the family members of the patient.
