Stayed here for two nights with my family and had a great experience. The night check-in desk was nice and detail-oriented. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. And Maria in the breakfast area was excellent-saying hello, bringing extra napkins or condiments, clearing dishes, and overall was so attentive to guests. Also enjoyed our view, which was a quaint, beautiful neighborhood.
Stayed here for 4 nights and there's a lot to say. The water pressure in the bathroom is not ideal, the AC isn't soft enough for many when trying to sleep, the bathroom door and other door are both not very sound-proof, and if your room is by the elevator you may here squeaking while in use at night. HOWEVER, the front desk is friendly and the service during breakfast is amazing, alongside the wide variety of complimentary breakfast foods as well, and consistent "refills" when food gets low. The fitness center is very nice, and you got to love how modern the entire building and rooms are tip to toe, that makes it extremely nice and enjoyable. It does not have a pool which might be a deal breaker for some, but some may find that alright. The views from the rooms are extraordinary, and the location is top-notch and very convenient. Walking distances from restaurants, Whole Food, and metro. FYI: You have to also pay for parking usually.
1. The front desk staff is unprofessional : During my stay, the air conditioner broke down for 2-3 days, leaving me without air conditioning in the middle of summer. However, I was not initially informed of this issue; I discovered it by accident when trying to contact the front desk for another matter. The front desk staff did not make an effort to inquire about the inconvenience I experienced due to this issue, and there was no information about any compensation plan until I specifically requested it. Additionally, when extending my stay, the newly registered card key continuously malfunctioned. Instead of promptly resolving the issue, the staff made me go back and forth between my room and the front desk 4-5 times, only asking me to try again. Typically, in such situations, an employee would accompany the guest to open the door and take further action. However, this did not happen, and I was left waiting in the hallway for about 20 minutes with no explanation provided. 2. I was charged for non-reservations : While extending my stay, I provided my credit card number as requested. To my surprise, I received a notification of a double payment from the card company around 2:00 am on the same day. When I inquired about the payment, the hotel refused to provide a clear explanation, claiming that the details were not confirmed in their system. It seemed to be a deposit-like payment, with the hotel only advising me to wait 5 to 10 business days for resolution. Even after checking out, the amount was not canceled, and when I contacted the hotel again after 2 weeks, they not only failed to confirm the payment details but also dismissed my cancellation request with sarcasm, implying that I shouldn't have extended my stay in the first place. Frustrated with their communication, I initiated a dispute settlement through my credit card company, which took a month to resolve. As it turned out, my card was associated with another reservation and was charged for a no-show. If you plan to stay at this hotel, I strongly advise against providing your card number. 3. My privacy was not guaranteed : When I attempted to speak with the manager about another issue, they didn't inquire about the reason for my call. Instead, they immediately began discussing the cost of damages, citing towel contamination during the room cleaning process. Even though the contamination was minor and related to a sudden menstrual incident, the hotel staff adopted a threatening tone, mentioning that they had 'photos' of the incident and would charge for any future occurrences. After their statement, they asked if I had any questions. This level of customer service warrants the removal of the Hyatt's name from the signboard. Furthermore, during the process of inquiring about an overcharge via email, the manager persistently requested my cell phone number for a phone explanation. Despite my preference for email communication, I received a text message from an unknown number, without revealing its identity, requesting a call. This situation raises suspicions about how the personal information provided during my stay is being managed. 4. The hotel's customer service attitude is terrible : Throughout all the uncomfortable situations mentioned above, the manager failed to recognize the seriousness of the issues and remained unresponsive from beginning to end. They did not actively work to resolve problems and instead seemed to blame the customer for everything. Notably, the manager never offered an apology for any mistakes or shortcomings of the hotel. Even though it was evident that the double payment was the hotel's fault, the notice of cancellation did not contain any apology. Through this entire process, I experienced tremendous stress and emotional wounds. I was plagued by anxiety, wondering if I would have received the same treatment even if I weren't a foreigner. This incident still lingers as a trauma for me, and in the future, if I have to choose a Hyatt brand anywhere in the world, I will first consider if there are any other alternatives.
Great location but the air conditioning went out in August in the entire hotel. They never notified us during the day and we found out when we arrived at 1130 pm. We had two kids with us and It took over 2 hours to find a new hotel and only had one person working the counter on a Friday night. I was promised a full refund. It's two days later and still haven't received a refund. Called them and was told Manager needs to approve it. The customer service has been appalling and this should not be happening considering the massive inconvenience
This is a good hotel in a good location. The rooms are lovely and well appointed. The staff really try to help with any questions. Only downside was the breakfast. Everything was ice cold and some of the food was questionable.Rooms: 5/5
Very convenient location next to metro for easy travel into DC. The rooms were very nice and very spacious! Breakfast in the morning was good on the French toast days. The waffles were eggos and tasted freezer burnt. That’s the only complaint. Other than that it is a very nice hotel!Rooms: 5/5
Hotel is in a good location however overall service, for the money they charge, is not upto Hyatt standards. Housekeeping supposedly happens everyday but the rooms are not cleaned properly. Bed were not made , towels were not replaced, floor was not vacuumed and no coffee was refilled. There are no water filters to fill water bottles and bottled water is 3.50$ for a small bottle. No cutlery available for use and no microwave in the room. There is a common microwave downstairs but no disposables available. The sofa cushions are not even rearranged and kept in order. Rooms are decent size but some rooms face residential areas.
Everything was great except the breakfast. It's just not very good. That's why I rated service 4 stars. The room was amazing - spacious and very clean.Rooms: 5/5
Aside from the location and proximity to downtown Roslyn/Arlington, the hotel has definitely declined in service. The front desk night person isn’t rude, but isn’t friendly or very helpful. The evening/night hot food service, which appears to be precooked food, was unavailable; the cook didn’t present for work per the staff. Last, the hotel doesn’t provide daily room service at all, which that information should be provided on the website for customers to decide if they still want to pay and stay at the hotel. Luckily, my stay was only 2 days. I’m a Hyatt loyalty member and will not stay @ Hyatt Place, Arlington Courthouse again - Poor service.
We showed up at 1 am. AC broken. Date - Aug 5th. They moved us to another hotel. Staff didn't have anything to do with it. They were nice. They moved us into a close by hotel and picked up the tab. Bad experience, after a long day of traveling.Rooms: 1/5
