Schools have very controlling teachers. Eagle Rock teachers use “demerits” as a punishment, they will tell you they are for are a learning experience. They’re not they use them anytime a student does something wrong. Example a kid calls out an answer instead of putting their hand up. Demerit. If a student talks before the class is addressed and starts. Demerit. This school puts a lot of pressure on my child I will be home schooling. Second Temple view this is a very bad school. My child was allowed to be bullied. You may think no they addressed it but why would the bullying continue through the school year. Got to the point it so too bad and switched schools. When we went to A.H. Bush they were so behind and didn’t learn anything about native Americans. That school doesn’t teach properly. Took a long time to get them back up to their other level and teach everything temple didn’t teach.
I have two special needs kids and I have so many teachers and staff who truly love and care for my kids. We may not always agree but they will have meetings and talk and figure out a solution. All in all I think they don't get enough credit at this district. If you have an issue with the school the district office is always helpful. I may not always like what I hear but they are doing the best they can and at least talk with you and listen to your concerns which sometimes is all you need to at last be heard and usually then the issue is resolved or a solution come about. Again truly love Al the staff and teachers. Highly recommend After months of mediation and trauma . I now have to change my review. This district is the worst. My son has permanent trauma from being locked in a seclusion room and they even did it without my permission stating they have every right to put him in the room without my permission
I've worked in more than one district and I have children that went through other school districts. I have never seen one this poorly run in my entire life. The district leadership doesn't follow their own board policy or the master contract that are both listed on the district website. In fact, I'm not even really sure who runs the district. It's like lobbyists in Washington. Those that scream the loudest get their way. The only reason for 2 stars is for those wonderful teachers and administrators that do care about students and try to help them through it all while they, themselves, are targeted. Shame on the board, district administration, and those bully teachers. You make this district a horrible place to work. No wonder so many people leave every year. I feel sorry for those that are forced to stay for one reason or another.
Decent educating. D91 seriously needs to do a background check of some teachers or even substitute teachers. Lots of pervy teachers and it’s obvious. They also need to clean the bathrooms throughly and some maintenance stuff, rather than punishing us for some actions of fellow delinquents. I walk into the bathroom everyday and am not surprised by the school lunch somehow being in the urinal i want to use, the rancid faint smell of fish i randomly get, or even the random blood that’s splattered on the bathroom sink. it’s seriously concerning. School lunch is decent, counselors are good. However let us not forget about the lack of concern for students struggling with mental health issues. I have seen in the past that some counselors have been neglectful or even lack in effort when they are confronted with issues. Teachers seem to care more for the students than the actual person for the job. Lots of bullying. It’s seriously a sad district to be with if you can’t stand for yourself or are introverted.
My brother worked in the IT department for many years and unfortunately passed away in January. The HR department Heather Wade has treated us so poorly. Barely communicated with us about anything. We have never dealt with a situation like this before and had questions regarding his life insurance and retirement and told me to contact the companies cause they just notify them of his death. So your telling me that HR does not help families with these kinds of things when one of their long time employees passes away? No compassion at all. So sad that this is how we are treated as we our grieving. They also told us we could have anything off his phone that we wantit was owned by district 91 and now we need a court order to have anything off of his phone. I have done nothing to this lady to be treated like I’m trash. I hope to god she never treats another family the way she treated ours. My brother was a very smart person and a great asset their company. He would be so upset about how we have been treated. Shame on you Heather!
Their teachers locked a special education kid in a closet for HOURS this school needs to have some disciplinary measures taken! This school is terrible
Thank You to everyone in education, especially the D91Proud & Fox Hollow family for supporting educators and our community throughout distance learning in 2020!!
This district is a very caring one. They care about each and every student they have. They have the best staff because they truly care about their staff. All that care trickles down to our students creating well rounded students laying the groundwork for a bright future for all.
Really terrible school district. We've had kids in D93 which we loved for the last few years before one of ours began school in D91 last year. Frankly, it's been appalling to see first-hand just how poorly this district is run. Tax dollars are not spent wisely, student safety does not seem to be a priority, parents who'd rather not join Facebook are just left out of the loop, and parents' concerns often go ignored. In fact, numerous attempts--including an email directly to Sup. Boland--to get help with a serious concern we have went completely unanswered and unacknowledged. There just seems to be a complete disconnect with the real world here, as well as a feeling of apathy towards doing what is in the best interests of our kids and our community. In fact, D91's apparent inability to differentiate between "needs" and "wants" is a significant stumbling block. Wasting thousands of tax dollars on unnecessary "wants" is just throwing our hard-earned money down a bottomless black hole and has done nothing to improve the quality of education. As it is, our family already has to regularly supplement at home to make sure our children are getting the first-rate education they need to be well-rounded and competitive in the job market. And don't get me started on Common Core, which this district and area have inexplicably continued to embrace long after others have smartened up and dumped that disaster. The bottom line is that we're very frustrated with the single-mindedness of D91 leadership. Several have been in their current positions for years and it was reported in the news last year that the Superintendent alone pulls down an annual salary of over $140,000. That's more than the Governor makes, but I have yet to see a level of effort from D91 leadership in our kids' behalf that would justify anyone here earning that kind of money. Change can be a very good thing and, to that end, I would love to see some significant top-down changes at D91. I believe leaders with fresh ideas who put NEEDS ahead of wants, who LISTEN to parents/taxpayers, and who utilize existing tax dollars with high attention to accountability, efficiency, and common sense would make a world of difference here. Unless that happens, I don't see anything improving.
Most staff members are helpful and geared towards the success of their students. System is constantly trying to create a better environment for the students. Thank you SD91, not for being perfect, but for providing ample opportunity to all who desire to learn.
