The Stars & Stripes flies in silent vigil 24 hours a day on a magnificent hilltop overlooking the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Set against a backdrop of native grasses, green hills and the rugged Boise Foothills, the 76.5 acre cemetery offers a peaceful place of solitude and beauty for friends and family members of those laid to rest here.

The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery is located on 76.5 acres adjacent to the Dry Creek Cemetery. The site is just north of Hill Road and east of Horseshoe Bend Road in NW Boise. The land on which it is built includes approximately 40 acres donated in 2002 by the J.L Terteling Company, with the remaining acreage being purchased from the Dry Creek Cemetery District.

The Cemetery was made possible by a grant from the Veterans Administration, State Cemetery Grants Program which funded 100 percent of the design, construction and equipment costs associated with developing the facility. It was dedicated to the State of Idaho in 2004 by then-Governor Dirk Kempthorne.

This is the most peaceful place I have ever experienced. My brother was buried here on April 19, 2019. When we returned later that afternoon to see his final resting place, I could see a deer in the distant wondering up then down the hill. I just knew this was the perfect place for my brother to be.
Visiting Our son & Our HERO who we love and miss dearly. Groundskeepers are wonderful , humble men who do a great job taking care of the cemetery, burying our loved ones with dignity and pride, and placing the foot stones.office people are great really like James very helpful and kind
beautiful cemetery for Idaho Veterans
My father had his internment service there recently. All of the staff and volunteers were wonderful and caring. What a special place and we can’t thank everyone enough
Absolute beautiful setting and peaceful. Recommend a visit.
We laid our father ENC John Larribeau USN to rest today together with his wife Geraldine. The ceremony was dignified and performed with the utmost respect, dignity and military precision. My family and I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the perfect final tribute to our father and mother. LCDR John D. Larribeau USN, RET
Yesterday we had services for my nephew who recently took his own life. It had been years since I actually attended a funeral and this one touched me deeply and personally. I want to personally thank the gracious volunteers who where there to keep us all in order and make sure everything went as scheduled. The Chaplin was personable and even though he didn't know my nephew personally he was professional and tactful in light of how my nephew passed. I can't thank the Honor Guard enough for their dedication and volunteerism to honor veteran's. As an Army veteran, taps followed by the Flag ritual brought me to tears. Thank you for such a wonderful way to honor and remember our loved one.
Had a short, final goodbye for our deceased grandmother before they placed her into my Veteran grandfather's plot. We also placed our Veteran uncle's ashes in the Niche not too far from their plot. One of the older gentlemen working with the cemetary was very impatient for us to end our final goodbyes as we were "taking too long" and even dared to interrupt the Deacon in the middle of his final prayer, rushing him to finish. Side note: There was nobody there but us and his attempt to whisper that we were running out of time was loud and extremely disrespectful to our beloved deceased members and to the rest of the family who may never get to see the gravesite again. I was angrily disappointed in myself for not calling him out on his actions. The location is large, spacious and very lovely and well taken care of. I hope everyone else endures a better experience than we did.
My mother was buried in Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. The area is beautiful and a fitting place for her. The people we dealt with were kind and caring I go out there regularly and the grounds are always cared for very well.
Beautiful, peaceful grounds give a sense of dignity for the sacrifices represented in the many servicemen and women interred here. The funeral services with military honors are brief but poignant.
