Independence Local Schools is home to Independence Primary School, Middle School, and High School with an enrollment of approximately 1,100 students.
Independence is a small suburban community located eight miles south of Cleveland. Three schools house an enrollment of approximately 1,100 students and serve a community of approximately 6,800 residents.
The Ohio Department of Education has consistently ranked Independence Local Schools as "Excellent."

Independence Middle School is home to many teachers who have been the Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month, Plain Dealer Crystal Apple Teacher, and Guiding Star Teacher of the Year. In 2012, the sixth grade team was named the "Team of the Year" by the Ohio Middle Level Association.
Independence Primary School has been nominated for the U.S. Department of Education's Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The school is also ranked in the recent Performance Index Rating as 16th out of 1,745 elementary schools in the State of Ohio by the Ohio Department of Education. The school is also ranked #1 in Kindergarten Readiness Skills for Cuyahoga County.
