I don't even live in independence.This department went way out of their way to try to track down my cell phone. They met me at the address my phone pinged not just once in a day, but twice. I'm so thankful they at least tried and did their best. Thank you for all the officers that gave me the time of day to make time for me. I appreciate all of you along with all the dispatchers that were always super respectful when I called. Good job to the Independence Team!
I'm so glad that they take their jobs seriously. They make no efforts to do anything. Ultimately, I believe that they're lazy, and prefer not to help when needed. A simple breaking and entering? Oh, nothing they can do about that. Robbery? It's a civil matter, we can't do anything. Thanks a lot.
I was on I 70 west when one of their officers got on the interstate somewhere around mile maker 13 or 14. I was going 65 the officer merged on to the inertate at 60 and merged infront of me at that speed. He slowed down to 55, I slowed down to maintain my following distance. The officer then turned his lights on and slammed on his breaks. I was loaded at about 70,000lbs I had to swerve into the left lain to avoid hitting him. They should take their officers back to driver's Ed to teach them.how to drive before handing them a firearm and putting them in a position of power. This was absolutely ridiculous.
honestly they r ridiculous. called about getting into an accident n they say they are to busy?? when i had just got into an accident? to busy? n they show up to the scene two hours later n tell me i can’t make a claim because the guy was no longer there. ridiculous.
Dispatcher was rude, called in an incident for my mom who was in fear of her life. She had called twice for someone threatening her life with a weapon trying to break into her house and was told “we can’t do anything it’s a civil matter” and nothing was done. I then called And Was told nothing would happen since I was the one to call and not my mom. Very unprofessional, worst dispatch encounter EVER!
Since most people who will leave a review of a police department will be for negative reasons, I thought i would write one. Unfortunately we have had to call the Independence Police Department more than once for issues at our place of business. Every single time they arrived in a timely and they were very professional to the party involved and to us as well. They even followed up with us to keep us informed. Thank you IPD for a job well done!!
Got stopped while on a trip last week. These officers and their department are a joke. Never have I had such a horrible interaction with police. We were on a trip from Canada visiting friends when we got stopped at a sobriety checkpoint. I was removed from the car and accused of have a fake ID and fake license plate because they were from a Canadian Province, which is completely legal. Canadians and Americans drive their cars in both countries daily. But they were over the top rude and kept us there for almost an hour, even after verifying that our paperwork was in order and real. Oh, and no I was sober. I feel horrible for our friends who are 'served' by these police officers and their department and feel even worse for the citizens of this community.
Worst police station ever. They gang up on you. Rough when handcuffing. They have the most uncomfortable beds just metal no mattress. The last visit they never offered my free bologna sammy. The free ride was so cramped and hot with all of the other passengers. Y’all if your looking for a good jail go to blue springs. They treat you like kings. Free burger and fries. Mattresses. The whole 9 yards.
Very slow to respond to emergencies. Very very slow. I reported that I think I had been poisoned & an hour later when I called to get an ETA before the accused got away, I was told they were on a shift change , my call was still in pending status, and they were short staff. The dispatched seemed very uninterested. This is how our tax money is used... Wow. Zero stars wasn't an option.
Worthless; if I could give Independence Police Department ZERO stars, I would. The police chief should be removed immediately for failure to perform their duties. There were several break in burglaries of automobiles and thefts in the neighborhood overnight and IPD did not even send a patrol officer to the scene to conduct site exploitation or any aspect of an investigation. I would discourage even relying on the IPD for anything other than traffic citations. When crimes occur and the police fail to respond adequately or at all, then criminals continue to engage in criminal misconduct, unimpeded and more brazen and empowered.
