Great county park. Clean and well kept. Can be noisy during quiet hours, depending on who is staying there. The bigger groups near the RV spots tend to be more noisy. Great place for a hike with the Peconic River right there. Good playgrounds, great place for tent camping too. Considering the price it's overall a great place to stay. No thrills, basic hook ups. We were there during the off season, before April 1, so no water but electric was on. Park has a dump station only.
Beautiful place to camp. Attendants at check in are so polite, kind and very helpful. All the ladies I spoke to at check in were all smiles and very sweet. Great start to a great camping week. Thank you for helping me switch sites to accommodate us. We will definitely be back.
Love camping here. Kids have a great time between playgrounds and beach. However when I had someone come to bring me stuff from my house although 3 people said it was ok the 4th said no and made him park in visitor parking and walk or i had to go get them. I just wish people were conisistant.. I know it was memorial day but half if not more of the campers left.
Very large hiking area with very wide trails. People camp here as it is a Green Key County Park. My favorite location is the peninsula surrounded by the bay that has parking and picnic tables. A quiet relaxing place to watch the sunset and the birds.
Indian Island county park is a unique experience, between the beautiful camping families thriving in the evenings and the magic of nature, this park is truly a sight to behold....that is until sunrise when an unsightly trash man comes in pestering the peaceful campers checking for registration at daybreak... if you watch closely he can be seen stalking the families, hovering like some kind of giant mosquitoe. Speaking of his kin, there is a cloud of them that blanket the hiking trail, a few feet in the swarm thickened to an unmanageable point, it was clear that nature doesn't want humans here... and that's ok
Great very family oriented. We enjoyed it very much. Your neighbors are close so you don’t feel alone and the place is pretty packed. Nice little getaway here in Long Island. The coast by the water is beautiful.
Gorgeous, scenic, relaxing beach area. Surrounded by nice hiking trail and campground. Very cool place. Playground on site. The Path that you drive to get to outer trails and beach is very bumpy and off-road. Ultimately a car can make it but you are better with a truck or Jeep.
Beautiful beach and trail walk today at Indian Island. This park is serene and rarely crowded. It has a ton of amenities for campers and day visitors alike, including camp grounds, picnic areas, pavilions, grills, and well-maintained restroom facilities.
This is a hidden gem!!! Nice and quiet place to getaway from city for family time. The beach really is beautiful, small beach but finest sand; you can bring your kayak or paddle board. Lots of place to picnic under shady trees with water supply. You can fishing and BBQ on the beach too. Parking fees are recommended. Stop on the entrance and have to go to inside the office to pay parking or camping. Please confirm them why you are visiting this park because they have different pricing for different activities. Just be wary of bugs/ticks in the brush.
We went last summer to Indian island for an overnight camping trip with our 3 year old. Beautiful location with nice calm and shallow water for the kids to play in. Most spots you can walk out around a 100ft and the water is only a foot deep or so. During low tide you can explore a little further along the coastline for some really cool photo spots. I’d recommend bringing water shoes for comfort as the sea life and rocks can be a little nuisance. One night of tent camping was plenty here as it does take a lot out you if your not used to it. At night time they have a noise curfew so all of the generators have to be shut off. There is a lot for the kids to do here, and a lot kids brought along bikes which we will do next time. Full bathroom facilities with showers as well, bring flip flops as the floors are dirty from all of the traffic. Bring bug spray and stay out of the grass as ticks are abundant here so make sure to check every so often.
