Haven’t been there in years. Loved the upgrade and pictures on the first floor by the suites. The suite on the first floor is perfect, especially when you have kids. Plenty of room and the extra bathroom is very handy. Refrigerator was nice and cold. Room was dark which was excellent for sleeping. Beds were comfy. Pool was nice. Kids loved it. View was very pretty. Continental breakfast was a nice bonus. We will definitely be coming back.
Extremely dated and the remodeling that was done was obviously not done by professionals. The floors in the hallway feel like your foot will go through them and they are not level at all. And who still has double beds in rooms? The rooms were big enough for two queens. Would never stay here again. Two positives are the staff and the pool area is nice.
The men at the front desk were so freaking rude. The ones that checked us in at 4. The one at checkout same way. They need some customer service training. BAD. I will not come back because of this. Its a shame too cause it a nice hotel with awesome pictures everywhere. The servers in the bar were nice the dessert was amazing. 68 bucks though for 2 martini and 2 dessert was a bit much. The pool area was nice but those front desk checkin guys man what a train wreck. Our smoke detection had a plastic bag over it in the room. The sliding glass doors all squeeze when people open them so we were up all night. The Lucy and Desi pics were the best part.
We were rather disappointed with this property. From its illustrious history to what it is today, this probably isn't necessarily the place it was from back in the day. The second shift desk clerk was extremely rude and unpleasant. He informed us that they typically don't rent to locals, but we seemed to not be, "that type", so he allowed us to stay - whatever that type is he was referring to. The rooms were very clean, tidy and presentable. However the room's patio door stuck and was very difficult to get open. This would be a very bad thing in the event of a fire. The perimeter doors for the most part were unlocked during evening hours. Anyone could just walk in to the building. This is one of the reasons our rating is so low. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the service by Monique was splendid. The pool and spa was extremely pristine and very clean. Overall for the exorbitant price they charged us for a one night stay, it just wasn't worth that fee. This does however seem to be a decent place for meetings and banquets. And if you like history and nostalgia, this is the place for you. However it does not meet up to current day standards as far as the technology in the rooms which is lacking. And again security was a great concern being so lax. We do want you to know that the marble baths only indicate that the marble in the bathrooms only goes as far as the counter, floor and walls. There are no actual marble bathtubs. Their marketing department may want to reconsider the wording on their website and advertising materials. We do not recommend this place, but for a last minute, no rooms available anywhere else stay. Rooms: Rooms were very clean, but with slightly outdated technology within them. Nearby activities: Beside the activities and shows within the resort, there is a 36 hole golf course. Safety: Security was lacking and the perimeter doors were not secured. In fact one of the doors had absolutely no magnetic lock on it at all. Unfortunately, anyone could just walk in to the hotel and resort at any time they wanted to whether they were a guest or not. This is a major concern. Walkability: Walkability throughout the resort and golf club were exceptional. Very scenic with photos of stars all around the hotel. Wi-fi: Wi-Fi service is excellent here and included in the price of the room. Food & drinks: Food and drinks including room service are excellent here. It is somewhat costly however if you are not using the free continental breakfast coupon. The morning breakfast is complimentary. The wait staff is very pleasant. Noteworthy details: Beside the security breaches we found the evening staff desk clerk was rather odd and unpleasant in his demeanor. His indication that the resort preferred not to rent rooms to people who are local residents of the area was a bit shocking. These issues mentioned in this entire review should definitely be taken into consideration. Management and the owners should look further into all of these things. Overall this resort was nostalgic, but also somewhat unwelcoming.
The entire hotel is very old fashioned. The room's furniture is very old including the AC, which is extremely loud. Seems that the toilet lost some water over the time, which was then loudly balanced, what didn't let me sleep sometimes. The breakfast was medium. Lobby was overall nice, service very good.
The bar closes at 9pm and the pool closes at 10pm. Why? That's my only complaint. The rooms are very nice, I like the 60s style elegance and the food was good as well. But during summer in the desert being in a pool late at night is one of the best parts of being in the desert.Rooms: 5/5
I live local and booked a room for one night for my birthday. Go to check in and 2 men at the desk. The man who helped me was nice, the other was a little rude to a guest that was there complaining his key didn't work and he couldn't get in his room. The man literally snapped at him and said he wasnt going to help him but would send a maintenance guy. Went to the room which was difficult to find in the dark and at the back of the building with poor parking lot lighting and no signs where entries were. I was on the second floor and walking the hallway felt like I was sinking at times. TV did not work. AC unit was hanging open I had to snap it back together. Shower had been dripping all day so water all over bathroom floor. I made the best of it because I was tired and just needed the room to rest. After an hour of lying in the bed I started to itch. I look with my flashlight and there were BEDBUGS in the bed!!! I immediately vacated and went to front desk, got the nice guy again who agreed to refund and was apologetic. I know sometimes things happen outside our control and bugs can show up in ANY hotel, but I have to leave a review here for accountability and hope they take care of the problem. I have 10-15 bite welts on my body and cringe to think what would have happened if I fell asleep. Never again. Rooms: I feel you are definitely paying more for location than anything else. Room was very dated and musty despite the cosmetic upgrade to the hallways.
What a special hotel! I love the vintage feel thanks to Lucy and Dezi!. The staff has been so wonderful, the room was clean and comfortable, and while I was here on business and not enjoying the amenities, the pool/cabana area is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of a true desert oasis. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!
Spent Christmas in La Quinta with my sister and her family. Her wonderful husband booked us a room here for Christmas Eve. We went directly to her place and started celebrating. Time got away from us, and before we knew it, it was past 2:40am. We get to the hotel by 3:15am and are somewhat assisted by Annette. I say somewhat, because Annette proceeds to inform us that she Canceled our room “We usually change to No Show at 2:00am, but because it’s Christmas, we extended it to 3:00am for you” But continues with we no longer have a reservation. I stood there in utter amazement, with it being Christmas, and Annette goes on to say “You just staring at me is not going to change anything!” No compassion, no empathy, something tells me she would have been one of the inn keepers turning away Mary & Joseph. I’ve been in customer service forever, I’ve traveled for work for many years, going from one hotel to the next at all hours of the night. This woman had us looking for another hotel at 3:30 in the morning. Thank the Lord for my Diamond membership with Hilton. I was so upset, but did not want to mention anything to my sister and husband of what happened when they asked how we liked our stay there. I just thanked them again for their Christmas gift of the room.
Beautiful view, at least for me it was. Those mountains alone freaking breath taking. I love me fall weather, so that heat tends to be nice. If I had the money to stay everytime I wanted to go, I would. It's very secluded in a way. Perfect place when you want to get away from everything and just have some sun and relaxation.Rooms: 5/5
