Dr. Dat Q. Tran, nationally recognized board certified allergist immunologist, previously tenured associate professor at UTHealth McGovern Medical School, operates this clinic to provide the latest innovation in allergy treatment for adults and kids.
Dr. Dat Q. Tran is a board-certified allergist and immunologist who treats allergic and immunologic conditions affecting adults and kids. His expertise is in food allergy, allergic rhinitis, eczema, asthma, drug allergy, immune disorders, recurrent infections, dysautonomia, autoimmunity and oral immunotherapy. He received his BS in Biochemistry, summa cum laude and his MD degree at Tulane. He did his pediatric residency at Texas Children's Hospital and then went to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for his allergy/immunology fellowship and research training. Afterward, he joined UTHealth McGovern Medical School in 2009 as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. Soon after, he received a prestigious NHLBI/NIH R01 grant funding to conduct research in immune tolerance for transplantation and graft-versus-host disease. In 2015, he was promoted to Tenured Associate Professor. His passion has been in research and providing innovative treatments for patients. He has always been frustrated with the management of food allergy. Avoidance and an epinephrine auto-injector for the management of food allergy is NOT a treatment. In the pursuit of better treatments and clinic care for patients, he opened Innovative Allergy Clinic in June 2017 to provide innovative oral immunotherapy for the treatment of food and environmental allergies. He has resigned his tenured position and is now an Adjunct Associate Professor. He continues to do research and teaching at UTHealth. He is married to his beautiful wife, Holly, who is a pediatric nurse practitioner at Texas Children's Hospital. He has two awesome kids and inventors, Rilina and Dylan. Together, the family also operates their toy company, Tranovation, which makes innovative toys, such as BubbleLick, BubbleBliss and BubbleJazz. He also operates a nonprofit 501c3 organization, TranScience, which offers scholarships to promote meaningful education and training in the area of science and medicine.
