We aim to develop and refine procedures used in clinical work to reduce maladaptive behavior as well as teach and improve adaptive skills.
The Intensive Behavior Intervention Services clinic, directed by Dr. Anibal Gutierrez, BCBA-D, Assistant Professor and Certified Behavior Analyst, focuses on the development and refinement of procedures used in clinical work to reduce maladaptive behavior as well as teach and improve adaptive skills to children with diagnoses of autism and other developmental delays. The lab also focuses on the evaluation and development of technology to improve and aide in clinical work.
The aim of our research is to contribute to the development of efficient and effective interventions for use with clinical populations, with a focus on interventions for individuals with autism and other disabilities. Current areas of study include:
Joint attention development
Parent training to address maladaptive behavior and compliance
Development of verbal and communicative behavior
Early learning and academic skill development
Feeding challenges and picky eaters
