IPM works to develop new HIV prevention tools and other sexual and reproductive health technologies for women and make them available in developing countries.
IPM’s work is guided by its singular global health mission:
-to provide women with safe, effective and affordable products they can use to protect themselves against HIV
-to make these products available as quickly as possible in developing countries, where the need is most urgent
To prevent HIV transmission by accelerating the development and availability of safe and effective microbicides for use by women in developing countries.
IPM’s vaginal ring uses a novel delivery method that slowly releases the ARV dapivirine over time, and is designed to remain in place for at least one month to provide sustained, discreet and easy-to-use protection against HIV.
IPM also has a topical dapivirine gel and is working on a combination ring that uses two types of ARVs to protect against HIV and a dual-purpose ring that could provide contraception and HIV prevention in a single product.
