Reclaim, restore and reinterpret
As Peru modernizes, hotels and mansions dating from the Colonial era are being razed to make way for 21st century steel and glass. Originally designed by fine European and South American architects, these historic edifices feature intricately carved wooden panels, beautifully crafted doors, distinct balcones de Lima and other unique architectural elements made by master craftsmen.
California designer Stevenson Adam Whizin and the Intikori team reclaims, restores and reinterprets these historic materials with respect to modern aesthetics and scale. A visitor to the Intikori taller would see everything from the painstaking restoration of materials found largely intact to artistic fusion inspired by heritage designs and traditional craftsmanship.
