I love it and I miss it. It's only been gone a month, but I have at least 10 years of memories there.
I love this place. Great improv shows and cheap drinks. There's always a nightly drink special to get you good and socially lubricated and the shows are always a blast. You can watch different styles of improv and shows on the same night for the price of your ticket most of the time. I'm so glad they bounced back after the windows got smashed by an idiot driver. I've also loved this place for a while because they had Shiner Bock on tap.
The space is great and drink prices are low. The parking though...my GOD. If you're attending a show, leave PLENTY of time for parking. Especially evening shows. Even on Sunday, most of the streets around there don't allow parking from 6pm-3am. It's ridiculous. I'm guessing it's to force you to pay for lots in the area.
I went to the Armando show. I don't know if it was an off night or maybe the topic was hard, but I didn't laugh at any of the skits. It seemed more conversational than humorous honestly. I'll be giving the other shows a try, but I'm sorry the Armando show just didn't do it for me; however people were laughing so don't take my word for it. Give them a try, the drink prices are great
This place is the best bar theater in town. The Wednesday night and Friday nights shows are phenomenal. I recommend heyday and opening night. The drinks here are very decently priced and sometimes celebrities pop in.
I had no idea they had a bar here, but I have to give it five stars for that. Went to see my friend's sketch show and had a great time. Cool atmosphere, great drink selection, nice people.
My favorite F word - FREE. Free shows on their loft stage. Cozy around 25 seats, intimate plush armchairs and loveseats, and fuuunny!! Great improv! So sad that they closed forever... Maybe they should have charged a little more for the loft shows.
Absolutely FANTASTIC! My favorite improv group there, without a doubt, is "The Feel Good Not Bad Death Laser" troupe, who seem to have taken over i0 West. I don't know how these gals and guys do it, but I'm constantly doubling over with laughter. On Sunday nights, they have some other thing going there, where they bring in two other improv groups to perform before they come on, and it's a triple threat of non-stop FUN!
I saw on the website that they had a Drop-In Improv singing class on the 4th Sunday of the month. I was excited so I drove over from Venice paid for parking and then turned out to be cancelled without any sort of notice. Once I arrived I was greeted with a very nice intern who did her best to help me but wasn't informed about any sort of cancellation either. Once she reached out to the person in charge they did not seem to be helpful at all. This place wasted my time and wasted my money.
Love seeing shows at iO West. Not only is it easy to get to and find parking, there’s also a bar that makes waiting for the show to start much more pleasant. Staff is all friendly and cool and it’s easy to get tickets there quickly.
