Welcome to the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University.
The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University has exciting programs in aerodynamics, aerospace structures, propulsion, flight mechanics, guidance, space systems, as well as many hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom.
Our faculty and students conduct cutting-edge research in nondestructive evaluation, computational fluid dynamics, wind engineering, experimental aerodynamics, guidance and control, aircraft icing, rotorcraft/UAV/MAV, and micro/nano mechanics of materials. For more information on our research areas, please visit our research website.
Our department has had the privilege to educate some of the most accomplished and distinguished leaders of industry, government, and academia. These include the current chairman and CEO of Boeing, the former Chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin, and an astronaut, just to name a few.
The mission of the aerospace engineering program is to prepare our students for a career with wide-ranging opportunities in research, development, design, production, sales, and management in the aerospace industry and in the many related industries which are involved with the solution of multi-disciplinary, advanced technology problems.
