This is one of the best animal shelters here's in OC. The staff are great and take care of the animals. It's happy to see animals get adopted pet quickly as well. It's always sad to see these animals in a cage but most seem to get adopted pretty quick, which is great. Would definitely recommend visiting if you're thinking of getting a pet.
This place is amazing! We adopted a senior cat here and love him very much. The staff and volunteers here are incredibly kind and caring and always open to share tips and tricks on how to care for cats and dogs. Even if you're not looking to adopt, the shelter has a big grass area that is relaxing to stroll and visit the animals they have.
Who doesn't love the little animals? Irvine animal care center does a wonderful does a wonderful job of caring for the animals with love. Their volunteers are dedicated and the staff is committed to animal welfare. One of the finest examples of a city animal shelter you can find.
Cute doggos and cats that are very well cared for. They take volunteers at all times so if you want to go play with some dogs/cats, definitely apply. Fees for adopting are reasonable. Dogs and cats kernels are clean and the animals seem happy.
Not happy with them. Went in to look at cats. Found 2 I liked, one with a cloudy eye, 1/2 missing k9s, and other bad teeth and another with "gingivitis". They would not give me ANY information other than that even though they have a vet on staff diagnosing this. I opted for the 2nd cat because I was too nervous about the 1st one, it's health conditions & the large & immediate potential for costly treatments which I thoroughly expressed to them. The day I picked up the 2nd cat, I asked again about the gingivitis, if I could see it/understand it before committing. The gal said no, I cannot see because it's a "liability". Huh? I've been in a private room alone with her twice. You're telling me the vet cannot look, show, or discuss potential issues with me? That seems strange & sketchy. Oh yea & one other "small thing". "She's had diarrhea for the last day & 1/2 so we've changed her to prescription food & are giving her a probiotic". Uummm..ok? Wait, what? Can you have them run a test before I take her? "No. Dr. doesn't think necessary, it's probably nothin". Umm,Ok? So long story short, I ended up taking her & now...here we are...2.5 weeks later, 3 Dr.'s visits in $$, multiple reactive action plans based on information provided by IAS, medications $$, one big return hassle of food, hundreds of dollars in new special food, hundreds of dollars in supplies, special litter, blah blah..& the cat still has BAD diarrhea literally liquid & now needs to go back to the vet tomorrow for "additional testing" I've been advised. Awesome. Recently, at the recommendation of my vet, I just looked over the paperwork filled folder of almost entirely random, ggeneral "helpful" information that was given to me when I got her...aaand what do you know..?! sifting through all of the random papers in the folder. ..something labeled medical history that I was told contained her vaccination records but had actual Dr. notes on it.. what?!!! she's has diarrhea and vomiting for over a month!!! They knew & did not disclose or treat!!?? How would you like to be sick & untreated for 1 month. Oh and also found 2 certificates for no cost vet visits I knew nothing about that of course have now expired. Also awesome. And what did "Jessica" from Irvine Animal Shelter say to all this when I called today? "Well. You can bring her back at no charge if you want because it's within the 30 days". Oh thank you lady with obviously no human skills. I also loved how she went on to insinuate that I am a liar since the records show I received verbal "medical counseling where all her issues were discussed". Riiight. What an awesome thing to say I'm response to my experience there, so nice thank you. Yes, I love wasting more of MY time.. to lie??!! Mkay. Let me correct you though Jessica... not only was her one month long diarrhea issue never discussed that day.. it was NEVER even discussed the previous 3 times I went in for her &/or called in about her specifically either!! Unbelievable. I will never support this organization again in any way. Absolutely incompetent skeemers. Rules are rules for a reason but incompetent people should not be in charge of deciding appropriate measures or solutions. Use common sense people. Prime example: Jessica. Either you have zero wherewithal, zero humany decency or zero backbone. Either way..what on earth are you doing in that role? Irvine Animal Shelter: Do better! This is unacceptable. Smh I absolutely do not recommend this place. Management/leadership: what on earth are you running over there?! What sucks about a review like this? Will staff start caring properly? Will staff be held accountable or trained/retrained properly? Will staff finally realize people WILL speak up? Unfortinately all this MAY do ABSOLUTELY nothing other than turn someone off from adopting an animal. Cool. So more than likely only the voiceless get to continue to suffer in silence? Unbelievable
Always provide good care, however when my pet was dying there wasn’t any way to set up a payment plan or anything like that. They wanted me to take out a loan to pay for the medical bills on the spot. Not good internet either to even try to do that.
Horrible place. Dogs in cages with empty bowls. Saw cats in such small places they were laying in their litter box. Yes. Their customer service is even worse. Couldn't fins help. When my wife and I saw a cat that we wanted to look at. They had us fill out a 20 min. questionairre. Then when done, we turned it in and were told visiting hours were over! But the place was open for another hour yet. There were other people looking at cats at that very moment. Steer clear!
Great place. We just adopted a kitten. The staff are fantastic. The place is amazing. The animals are well taken care of and their interview process is good. I would highly recommend stopping by. If you can handle the responsibility, having an animal will definitely make you happier. Kudos to the staff here.
I adopted Beverly in July of 2022 and it's the best choice I've ever made! The facility made the process smooth and all their cats are well-kept.
I love Irvine Animal Care Center! It's very clean, organized and you can see that the animals are very well taken care of. I have never adopted a pet from them but I have a friend that have done it and they only told me good things about it. I love how active they are in social media, always keeping their website updated, and always engaging with the community and promoting fundraisers and events to help the animals to get adopted faster. I go there every once in a while to donate some stuff and I always stop by to play a bit with the cats.
