True local diner experience. Nothing fancy but really tasty and lots of it. I had the seafood omelet. Served with great hash browns. Good tasting omelet with lots of little shrimp. The fish and chips had three enormous pieces of fish. Everyone liked their clam chowder.Food: 5/5
I would give it a 3.5 stars. Service was both friendly and professional. The fish in the Fish and Chips was excellent. Given it's fried, it was surprisingly NOT greasy. The rest of the meal was ok..but do you see the dark green soggy leaf in my salad? Yeah, there were a few of those in there. However the iceberg lettuce was nice and crisp.
Nice diner place for comfort food. I had the mushrooms eggs benedict and husband had the steak and eggs. It's a lot of food. Our waitresses were really nice and sweet.Food: 4/5
We had sandwiches for lunch. I got a Monte Cristo with side salad and Stephen ordered a French Dip with fries. The wait staff was friendly, but they seemed to be working in slow motion. We were seated then after 10 min. the menus showed up. It wasn't long after that we placed our orders. Just guessing, the kitchen had a problem with the amount of orders they needed to expedite. After waiting for our food for 30 min. and having a ferry to catch, we asked for it to go. Our waitress obliged and got the food packed up. The ferry is a 10 min drive yet the food was stone cold except for the au jus. Just a hunch, but I think they forgot about bringing our order. It's a cute cafe but unfortunately one we will skip next time in Anacortes.
OMG I Love this place!!! Had the worst f'ing morning on Friday Harbor when I lost my car keys and this place almost wiped it away. The Homemade Chowder is fantastic...creamy with tons of classic & flavor. Had the Orchard salad too and it was huge & absolutely delicious Highly recommend CITY CAFE
I didn’t expect to find avocado at a classic diner. It was a pleasant surprise and of course I had to order it. Really enjoyed the scramble, though the hashbrowns were a tad too greasy and the waffle was chewy. Brewed coffee was good. Good service and large portions. Plenty of free parking around. Other places had waitlists for breakfast and I’m glad we ended up here. Would come back if in the area.
We stopped by for brunch on the Friday of the 4th of July/Canada Day weekend. No wait. The restaurant is spacious and has bar seating. They serve an all day breakfast which we ordered. The menu is varied and includes breakfast, salads, sandwiches, and main entree. The service was friendly and prompt. Food came out quickly and hot. Portion size was more than enough. Stop by for a yummy breakfast or brunch if you’re in town.
Lobster bisque available Fridays only, pairs with a grilled cheese very nice and the stock of the bisque was creamy and spiced with dill. The chilli cheese burger was awesome, and a beast of a meal. Recommend the sweet potato fries also, nice waffle cuts.
Paid a pretty penny for the few bites of dehydrated hashbrowns and the unmelted butter on my toast. Waitress reaction to my concerns was " OH " and walked away. Waitresses too busy socializing, openly drinking coffee behind bar or just playing with her phone. Very little attention paid to the 7 customers they had. They even stop male employees who were working to join in.
This is my favorite breakfast spot in Anacortes and I've tried them all. Mostly in regards to value. Perfectly done hash browns. Most other restaurants put too much salt on everything. Sometimes I like having a place to relax and hang out for an hour or two after work and I appreciate that nobody tries to rush me out the door.Food: 5/5
