It’s a cool place to go when it’s nice out not wet because the paths are dirt. My little nephew loves to go here because he literally believes me when I say let’s go to the witches house that or which really does live in that abandoned little cabin that’s all boarded up. I can’t say I would swim there the last time I have swim there was when I was maybe six and I remember coming out of the water in my light pink bathing suit was brown.. although I do believe they have cleaned the water up a lot and even put chlorine in the swimming area. Not a bad place at all , and I guess it pretty good place to swim for all you pond goers. I can only swear in saltwater myself.
Nothing big for hiking, we did not visit the swimming area but that looked cool. There was so much trash in the woods and the water.
Very mixed feelings about this place. It's nice for a good nature walk and if you like to fish it's an ok spot to fish at. My biggest issue is the place is dirty, especially the pond that is within island Grove. Dog-friendliness: Good for dogs though, it's big and there is lots of trails to walk!
I have been coming here since I was a little kid. I now have my own child, and have also brought her here since she was a baby. There's a swimming area- pond- which is separate from the big pond you can see from the street. They add chlorine to the swimming area to keep it clean. Because they also have summer camp here, for all different ages. It's just a great place to visit. You can fish off the bridge, have a picnic, go swimming, walk the nature trails, play on the swing sets, or simply relax and take in the scenery. Enjoy!
It's Abington. The memories. The legend of Big Bertha still exists this very day.
They have a summer camp for the kids w/ a swimmin' hole and very nice counselors. It's a nice place to take a walk. There's a family of swans and it's just a pretty little hidden jewel.
I just love it there because there’s so much things to do because you can teach your kid how to swim or build a Sandcastle with your kid. My kids went there yesterday they had so much fun.
Island Grove is a great place in the summer for family cookouts& swimming. They also have swimming lessons for the children. As far as the fishing goes, not so good. Better than it use to be. The pond was stocked with a variety of freshwater fish. My family and I have been going there for almost 40years now. Two parking lots, also. Worth checking out, now that it's getting warmer.. ENJOY! I was going past the Grove this Friday morning and I happened to have my rod in the car. I had one small lure from last year still in the box. It was a bit windy, but I caught a good wind. I was reeling in & walking to the car. I was finished and I got a little tug. Caught myself a little calico bass. Put a smile on my face.ⁿ no
This is a very special place to relax and commune with nature. I hope to capture photos of the turtle and squirrel families soon.
Fun community park that's great for families and adults alike.
