This is my second visit to this hospital. I do come here to see a couple of specialists more regularly here at the same building. I've stayed as a patient after a surgery I had here; and now I came to the ER and was admitted as a patient again. I will likely be discharged tomorrow, but I wanted to leave a review due to all of the great people here. I'd like to start by saying the doctor's here are amazing, and in my opinion the best in the state. I see multiple doctors and I've seen many different specialists from all kinds of other hospitals here in Indiana and the ones here at IU are the best. The nurses follow suit as the doctors do in regards to: They are very caring, very thorough and they listen to you and genuinely seem to care. Every nurse I've had on both stays have done everything in their power to make me comfortable and see that I have everything I need in a timely manner. The rooms are private, comfortable and nice and very clean. This is by far the best I've ever stayed in been treated at out of many other hospitals in Indiana. The food is a good variety and is tasty. I have yet to have anything on the menu that I didn't like and I've tried almost everything throughout my stays. The emergency room was the fastest, most thorough and caring emergency room that I've ever been to. I will never go to another one other than here at IU North. I've never been more satisfied with all aspects of my stay and my care as I have here at IU Carmel. I highly recommend this hospital, emergency room, doctors, nurses, etc to anyone needing care. Total complete satisfaction!!! I don't say that lightly Thank you IU staff!! You are appreciated!
Overall a good experience with the ER. We brought my son in to be seen for a head injury. Every person we interacted with was very kind, and the pediatric team - the pediatrician, Dr. Lemme, and our nurse, Scott - were fantastic with my son. Only complaint was the long wait…we never even got a room, but spent several hours waiting in the hallway. Frustrating, but I assume this is a common ER problem, not specific to IU. Overall happy and would recommend.
Such an Amazing Team!! They honestly want you to be as comfortable as possible during labor & Delivery. From the front desk to our discharge date everyone was so friendly and helpful! The atmosphere is so peaceful and calm!
Sure, the facility is pretty and the amenities are plentiful. However, none of that matters if one department is incompetent. If the pre-authorization department is inept and they are, then the entire system breaks. I’m typing this with one day to go until my visit for some scheduled procedures and the pre-authorization still has not been submitted to my insurance company. This is not the first time this has occurred as my tests are part of my routine now. Calling the department results in a voicemail stating they will call back in two days. In my case I work and have to travel 2.5 hours to get to this hospital to get my procedure done and then drive back. Apparently, in their world, the patients aka customers just sit around by the phone 24/7 and have no other responsibilities. I hate having to rant as I know many wonderful healthcare workers are here and other places as well. So please keep in mind that this is directed at this department only. However, be aware of this when you decide to be treated here or if you are forced to. You will need to be on them. It becomes another job. I can see why people just drop their healthcare needs altogether due to all of the hoops they have to jump even to get basic care.
My husband had an appointment with Dr. Rahnama as an existing patient. I needed to be seen for an anomaly on my nose. Dr Rahnama graciously allowed me to be seen during my husband’s appointment as a new patient. You see we live within 4 miles of the Indiana-Michigan boarder. That’s 4.5 hours from Indianapolis and 3.5 hours from the Carmel office which is where my husband was scheduled for this appointment. Dr. Rahnama knew we were distance challenged!! I’m very grateful to him and his professional staff for letting me come in with my husband because it seems I have melanoma. Tho caught early-it wouldn’t have been so if this appointment was not permitted. I wouldn’t have been able to be scheduled until May 2023!! Dr. Rahnama called me within 2 days to give me the results, set me up to see a surgeon within 2 weeks, and has followed up with me PERSONALLY twice so far to be sure I am doing okay. Who does that these days? I’ll tell you who… Dr. Rahnama, that’s who! God Bless you and your staff. No matter the outcome I face, I can say I had a chance because of Dr. Rahnama. He’s had brought so much healing to my husband too. We had seen 3-4 dermatologist before him. No one could help my husband until we meet Dr. Rahnama. Maybe he should be nicknamed “Dr. Genius”! I’m gonna save y’all some precious time-make it your mission to see Dr. Rahnama if you need to see a dermatologist. After all… He is THE BEST!
They did not figure out what was wrong with me, they were not friendly at all, they rushed me out of there without curing my issue just the symptoms. I had to figure out my illness on my own, which was an allergic reaction to a product. I was showing signs of distress until they gave me sleeping medicine.
If you come to the ER here and have to be admitted plan to wait A LONG TIME before you will be transferred into a room! Say between 5-13 hours. So you will be in the ER a very, VERY long time. 4th time with my mom from ER to room 7 hour’s first time, 5 hours second time, 14 hours 3rd time and now going on 4+ hours for the 5th time and no answer yet. We signed admittance papers at 4:00pm! What is going on here!?!?!?!
My doctors nurse told me to come to the ER because I was in a car accident and a fire. I waited I the ER for 5 hours. They never came to help or check on me. Minorities should NEVER come to this hospital. They treat and look at you like your life doesn’t matter.
The hospital itself is a great hospital but as for parking it is terrible for parents with young children. They should put in spots for parents with young children. I had to walk from the furthest lot in 40 degree temps with my 7 month old because no one was nice enough to let us have a closer spot.
This hospital is beautiful that’s it! I came to the Er for a serious illness and the PA rushed my visit and had no sympathy or care in the world she just want to hurry and get you out of there without giving you the proper care you need. I would not recommend this hospital. The fact that I did not speak to the ER doctor it was a physician assistant. Never again !!
