I first showed up early in the afternoon, and they warned me that the one doctor they had was about to take a break. That’s fine, not a big deal, we all need to eat lunch and thankfully I live about 5 minutes away. I actually appreciated the honesty. So I left and came back later. As far as I’m aware they had one doctor or nurse practitioner seeing everybody, in the middle of flu/sick season. To sum it up, I was there for 3 slow hours, mostly in the stuffed waiting room, and left with no diagnosis, no solution to my problem and nothing even close to an answer as to what I’m dealing with. Unfortunately it’s something my wife and I are deeply concerned about and I can’t see my family doctor until February, so it sucked to leave without a hint as to what’s going on. What I want to say though, is that everybody there from the front desk, to the nursing staff never saw a doctor was extremely nice and seemed to do their jobs well, despite not being able to diagnose me. So all staff that I encountered were good, but the time spent at the place and leaving with no clue as to what my problem is, earned not the best score.
From start to finish everyone was helpful and efficient to get me taken care of! I interacted mostly with Sylvia the NP and she was amazing! Super courteous and thorough to make sure she understand all my aches, pains and concerns! She made sure I didn’t walk out with out fully understanding what her recommendations were and next steps! Each interaction was special and each individual was truly compassionate and concerned for my well being! If I have any further urgent needs I will only come here!
Overall, I had a really great experience. They were super busy and the waiting room filled up quickly, but they kept the line moving. The girl at the front desk was very good at doing her job, but she seemed very robotic and disconnected. If I had to find something that they could improve on, it would be that the registrar would be a little more personable when interacting with patients. My medical assistant Ian, was absolutely amazing! He was by far the most friendly medical assistant I have ever had. He did his job quickly and thoroughly. I was treated by Dr. Dustin Simcoe. It was not my 1st time seeing him as he has been with the organization for a very long time. He was wonderful as always. He is a good listener and an even better doctor. I am already feeling so much better! Thank you Laporte Urgent Care for not only meeting my medical needs but for treating me like I mattered.
The only complaint I have is that the receptionist who checked me in did not explain to me there was an extended wait due to one physician being on staff it was something I overheard rough 45 minutes to an hour later, and she also didn't explain that if I checked in I could not leave- the only thing she explained to me was that if the physician couldn't figure out what was going on I would have to go to the ER. The single physician handled her situation well. The facility itself was well kept. The other staff members were polite and professional.
Waited Almost 3 hours with only 5 people ahead of me. Receptionist was busy talking with the other one so I stood there for them to finish chatting. Seemed like I was interrupting her and an inconvenience. The nurse was good and knew what she was doing. The NP echoed everything the nurse said. She couldn't get in and out of the room fast enough. I'll never go there again.
If you’re looking for a place with good hours, good service, or any help at all… Then, this place is absolutely not what you’re looking for! The hours don’t match the websites hours. Never seems to have people there. Which is odd, regarding it is urgent care. You’re better off going somewhere people value your health and emergencies. Which is anywhere, ANYWHERE, but here. Even Krogers garbage pharmacy would value you more.
Was not really thrilled with the nurse practitioner. I pretty much diagnosed myself. Did not feel very much compassion from her. When needing to see my back give me a minute to pull my hoodie up don't just grab my sleeve and want to start pulling it out of my arm.
2.5 hour wait with people coughing all over the place...I'm pretty sure I caught flu to add to my bronchitis. The guy looked in my ear and then prescribed a low dose of Prednisone for my chest congestion. Two days later I was at my regular doctor where my dosage was upped to normal level and told I had flu too. Now I am in the ER...so it's a process...but don't worry...the sick power 18% of our economy!
I came to urgent care for a UTI and congestion with shortness of breath. They took a urine sample and gave me an antibiotic, cough syrup and an Inhaler. I didn't have to wait long and everyone was kind and professional. I felt better in 2 days!
Update 11/22: I received a bill in the mail for almost 100$ I called them and spoke with the manager about it. I thought it was ridiculous I spent longer in the waiting room than actually talking to anyone. The NP Oudhuis Sylvia didn’t do any of the testing I asked for. She quite literally pushed on my stomach and “diagnosed” me. All in all I spent about 4 minutes talking to her. The “manager” I spoke to said she stands by the charges. An absolute joke. When I went to FRANCISCAN urgent care and asked for all the same things and they gladly did them, and found that I was pregnant. Northwest health is a joke. And NP Sylvia is also a joke. I went in with COVID/flu like symptoms with a lot of vomiting. I had missed a few days of work. And really just wanted to figure out what was going on. The Nurse Practitioner Silvia, I think her name was. Wouldn’t do a flu swap or a COVID test. She took my vitals, asked me some questions, and pushed on my stomach. And concluded I had stomach flu. Gave me a “work note” and sent me on my way. No help at all. Very unprofessional. 10/22 Update 10/26 : I went to Franciscan urgent care 4 days later with the same symptoms. Again I asked for flu and COVID swabs. They did both, as well as a pregnancy test. Turns out Im pregnant, and indeed did not have the stomach flu.
