J. Byrne Agency History
The J. Byrne Agency has been in the insurance business since 1946. Over the years we have grown from a small agency working with a limited number of local businesses to a substantial firm handling every type of personal and commercial insurance throughout the northeast region.
John J. Byrne founded our firm in 1946, then called Sparks and Byrne. He entered the agency business after a long and successful career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Several years later, Sparks and Byrne split and the firm became known as John J. Byrne Insurance.
James A. Byrne, the son of John J. Byrne, entered the firm in 1958. A new corporation was formed: The J. Byrne Agency, inc. James Byrne has been an active leader in the insurance business for five decades. He has served as President of the County Agents Association as well as the Independent Agents of New Jersey. Jim holds his CPCU (Charter Property & Casualty Underwriter) designation, one of the highest levels of distinction an insurance professional can achieve.
In 1982, Thomas P. Byrne joined the agency and is now the President. Tom holds a bachelors degree from Rutgers University and a Diploma in Risk Management from the college of Insurance in Manhattan. Tom also holds his AAI (Accredited Advisor in Insurance) designation.
Our mission is to strengthen the agency through superior service, increased sales and total professionalism, with honesty and integrity, which will build positive relationships with our companions and community, simultaneously creating agency profitability, community and client trust and the highest staff harmony and productivity, while finding the most economical and comprehensive way to insure our clients.
