I grew up in a small Nebraska town where my parents were very involved in the community. I learned from their example and enjoy working on projects that serve our community.
Through my Kiwanis club, I've raised over $100,000 for college scholarships awarded to local high school graduates. The past two years I've raised $21,000 for a foundation that provides needy local families low cost dental care. A few years back, I was chairman of the committee that fought off anti-fluoridationists in a heated Palo Alto election. This win preserved fluoridation in Palo Alto and paved the way for fluoridation in adjacent communities. These projects have been fun and very rewarding.
To further my professional knowledge and skills, I study the literature, participate in two very active dental study groups and attend dental courses. In my free time I bicycle and hike in our area and relax with my family.
