Best customer service we've had in such a long time. We had ordered our kids a meal to split and I had forgotten to ask for an extra bowl to split the meal. When she brought out the food she had already split their food in half and made my life easier. The restaurant was clean, she was super patient while we sampled food, and the food was good. I'd easily recommend this location and go back.
Great food and service couldn’t believe it was a chain I was eating at !!! Would recommend for sure tasted authentic. We enjoyed the Gumbo and Toast. Parking: Watch you step on the sidewalk it’s a bit higher than usual.
Who is decent? The gumbo was a little too watery. Service is excellent.
I had an excellent meal here at J Gumbo. The Voodoo Chicken is my favorite. Great value too. The Bumblebee Stew is delicious too. Will be back, its delicious!Food: 5/5
Great food and great experience. The woman working tonight was really kind and came over and had a conversation with me and the kids. We will be back for sure because of her
Very rude customer service. After bringing back food that was flavorless and cold. I was told I was wrong and she knew exactly how warm it was. She said there was nothing she could do but she stuck her spoon inside the container and stirred it up and gave it back. I was shocked. The worst part was she charged more than double the price advertised online
J Gumbos is a Cajun / Creole restaurant that is Mardi Gras themed. We discovered J Gumbos a few years ago when we lived in Illinois and had never heard of them before, and even then I didn't know it was a chain. Fast forward a few years and I find that there are quite a few in the Louisville area as well. We've been to this location a few times, and always on a Friday. Considering where it's located you'd expect it to be as busy as any other eatery long the Hurstbourne corridor, but we've never encountered a crowd. When I say it's Mardi Gras themed, the interior is decorated colorfully with lots of green, yellow, and purple, beads and masks. The decor is very festive. The menu isn't too extensive and the main entrees on the menu are rice-and-insert item based. All of entrees come with a sizable piece of fresh-toasted garlic bread as well. They have a number of appetizers also the nachos are excellent, and some Po' Boy sandwiches. The main entrees also come in a smaller size for those who have a smaller appetite. My personal favorite is the VooDoo Chicken. I must say, in all my years of eating spicy foods in a fast/casual environment, the VooDoo Chicken is *the spiciest* thing I've ever encountered. This is an "order at the counter and we'll bring it out to you" type of place, giving you time to get your beverage they also offer a few bottled beers and get settled in. It never takes long to get your food, and it is delivered HAWT and always flavorful. The staff is usually pretty friendly, but on occasion distracted and basically just going through the motions. Not really a complaint, just an observation. I also wish there were more menu options but, again, not a complaint. A salad, for instance, for someone with a lighter appetite. J Gumbo's. Authenticate Cajun food and atmosphere with a side of Mardi Gras color for charm.
No spice or chicken in the jean Lafitte burrito bowl. My po boy was two peices of burnt texas toast. And not enough chicken to cover both peices that I had to put together my self.
Horrible. bait and switch online ordering. Couldn’t order online “because the system was down” so ordered on the phone was charged almost double for an appetizer. Went back to the store after realizing and they refused to give my money back. Worst part was it was cold and flavorless. SMH go to another j gumbos location and treat this one like the plague
Always enjoy their drunken chicken gumbo and their bumble bee stew; highly recommend!
