I'm not one to complain, but . . . due to a broken bucket lift, the Crescent City Contour ground crew was unable to "de-ice" the morning frost on the plane, so we had to wait 3 hours for the sun to melt it. As a result, I missed my connection to Phoenix on Spirit Airlines who, unfortunately, did not have another flight that day leaving from Oakland. I had to spend an additional $228 on a Southwest one-way ticket to get to Phoenix that afternoon. I called Contour customer service when I returned it took 2.5 hours to get hold of them. Even though it was their faulty equipment that caused my extra expense, their policy is not to reimburse customers in this situation. From now on, I'll drive to the Arcata or Medford airports to avoid flying on Contour.
I took the flight to Oakland which was very picturesque. Great flight and pleasant staff. Will not hesitate to fly Contour Airlines again.
I am so grateful for the entire airport staff for making my trip to Oakland with my little dog an easy one. I got him to a neurologist finally! Your kindness towards us will stay in my heart forever.
I flew this airline many times and had only good to say about them however….last year I was moving out of state with two cats so I took months preparing, almost on a first name basis with TSA so that all would go smoothly. Well it didn’t. The day finally arrived to make the move. I was exhausted from packing for weeks and then getting the movers and all that goes with that finalized. So far so good. Until—-the airport. We arrived on time, cats secure in their carriers, trying to be considerate, we stayed at the back of the line so that others could get on the plane without waiting for us. When it was our turn, our tickets would’t scan. We clearly had tickets, even showed them another copy of them on my laptop. The TSA person motioned to the young woman who was at the gate to let her know that we needed a printed ticket. What was her reply? “The ticket counter is closed”. She said it twice as if she was proud of it. This was the same woman who was at the ticket counter just minutes before by the way is just a few feet away. She refused to get us printed tickets. Of course by this time, I’m panicked because my car is in the parking lot ready to be picked up for the move. I was’t being a Karen but rightfully I was upset and kept asking why won’t she print us a ticket. At that point, we were told, that we were not allowed to board the plane. I won’t even tell you the the absolute nightmare that ensued after this but it took us over 24 hours to get to our destination instead of three hours, mind you with two cats. All because one little gal refused to print a ticket for us. I was moving from the area so I won’t ever be using this airline again but if I wasn’t, I would drive to Medford or Arcata before I would ever fly with them again after this incident.
A word to the wise, when traveling through Crescent City…print your ticket because if there’s a glitch, you’re not getting on the plane if Miss “the ticket counter is closed” is there.
Very Easy Airport. I have flown to Oakland few times. The best thing is you can park your car trust it is free.
Both my grandfather and his wife are disabled. Deanne who has the beginning stages of Dementia is primarily wheelchair bound, but is able to walk with her cane a few steps. My grandfather is able to walk with his cane or walker. While being screened at this TSA, Deanne was told she would have to get out of the wheelchair, walk through the metal detectors WITHOUT her cane. When they voiced their concern about their physical disability, they were told that if they wanted to get on the plane they must comply. Deanne gets up stumbles through the machine barely in time for someone to catch her and put her back in a wheelchair. She is then wheeled away from sight of her husband who is her primary caretaker. How is this ADA acceptable? Now it's my grandfathers turn. They take his cane away and tell him he must walk through unassisted. He voices his concern but complies. The detector goes off, which he explains he has an artificial knee. They tell him that since he doesn't have PROOF of his artificial knee he must take his belt off. TSA agent yells at him and says he must comply. My grandfather takes his belt off and his pants fall down. The agent proceeds to tell this 88 year old man to walk with his pants around his ankles, no cane, or no help through the detectors. When he reaches out to brace himself from falling on the detectors the agent proceeds to yell at him not to touch the machine. My family will NEVER fly here again. APS as well as ADA have been contacted as this is a huge act of elder abuse/discrimination.
The staff has been great, it has flights from Contour airline to OAKland airport every morning 30 seats and vice versa at 730pm from OAK. Only thing is make sure you book a cab Coastal cabs don't charge extra for using a Credit/Debit Card and help you with the luggage space an hour or two before landing or else there is a Hertz nearby. No uber/Rarely a single uber here. Only thing is.. it looks like.. its being run out of a house as the new terminal is under construction. No wifi, hardly any signal for Tmobile atleast
PenAir had my husband on a 8 hour delay over a radio and then once that plane was fixed, they sent a completely different flight out on it. Any time he asked what was going on all he ever got was "I don't know." No explanations, no comping or offer to on anything, basically no nothing from them. Believe me we won't be using them EVER again!!!
Clean, well situated, only flies to and from Oakland, CA by Contour Airlines
Great new terminal. They have jets! No more turbo EMB 120's! Nice to have a local airport again.
