The Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1984 to provide primary fire suppression and emergency medical services for the Township of North Hanover, Burlington County, New Jersey. In its current configuration the JVFD provides structural fire suppression, wildlands fire suppression, rescue and basic life support services throughout its primary response area, including North Hanover Township as well as portions of surrounding communities and federal military reserves.
The township encompasses 17.3 square miles of land area including federal and military properties. The land use composition of North Hanover Township consists largely of rural residential dwelling units, agricultural lands, light industry, and customary business uses. The land use composition of the Township suggests future population increase, and commensurate increase in demand to the township emergency services.
