Food is hot and delicious. Would've rated 5 Stars, but... They did not have curry goat Restroom was dirty Saw a very LARGE bug run behind the counter and I'm sure he wasn't a member of the kitchen staff Despite these setbacks I still ate there.
This is the worst jamaican food I have ever tasted, i got a stew chicken no seasoning the rice was full of water something they called gravy.
I'm sorry, I don't like to write bad reviews as this is someone's business; however, this was my first and last time eating from this restaurant. First off, the place is pretty ran down so I can only imagine what their kitchen looks like. Secondly, the man who took my order had dirty hands and nails. I immediately lost my appetite because I figured he would also be the one to fix my food. The soda machine was pretty gross and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in ages. Then the guy gave me a filthy, greasy, food infested menu to look at, which I refused to touch. Lastly, the curry chicken yes, against my better judgment, I got a plate had lots of bones in it and I kept biting down on grit. My appetite was shot and I ended up throwing away over half of the food.
I didn't like how they treat the customers. I ordered the lunch special which includes a can drink, they told me that they were out of can drinks so I asked if I can pay the difference of a ginger beer and they said no because the can drink is free so I would have to pay full price for the ginger beer. The sign doesn't say free can drink, it says can drink with purchase is included. It's not my fault that they ran out. And on top of that I open my container and it's 3 small pieces of stew chicken, I know it's a lunch special but good grief.
Went there today.. Highly disappointed! The oxtail had no seasoning and was tough. The best thing was the abundance of rice they provided. Ordered festival which was burnt and tasted like fried dumplin. Pissed i wasted $32! The man then had the nerve to tell me the money i was spending was well worth it . Worst decision ever made
If Jamaica Jerk Joints reads their reviews here is one for you. I recently moved to Stockbridge and google Jamaican restaurants near me and of course you came up and you had a 4 star rating so I thought to myself must be good. Then I got to the location and when I walked in I was shocked by the appearance and the fridge with the soda's in it has mold and dust all in it. So I thought if the front of the house looks like this there is no way that I would eat anything that comes out of that kitchen because one can only imagine how bad the kitchen looks. To bad I could not taste the food it looks good in the photos as the reviews are good but appearance is everything especially with a restaurant.
The food the far less than mediocre. They didn't have rice and peas. The only option was white rice. I ordered brown stewed chicken which was dry and did not taste anything like real Jamaican stewed chicken. Then my total for a dinner size was $14++, including a drink. That is way toooo much for limited options and poor quality food.
I live in the community and decided to try this place on a whim. Of course you always have tread carefully when it comes to Jamaican food so I got the jerk chicken and was pleasantly surprised. The meat was extremely tender - falling off the bone and full of flavor. They give you a huge helping of rice and peas, a little too bit personally. The plantains were cooked to perfection and the cabbage was subpar. Overall, I will give place another try but this time with the curry options. As far as decor, this place definitely lacks in it but the best restaurants are the hole in the wall ones.
Great food, I've been coming here for years about 3 to 5 times a week. I've never been disappointed. The cooking style reminds me of my grandmother's cooking. Would recommend anyone who enjoys great Jamaican cooking to come here.
amazing food. the owner was very very sweet. I got the brown stew chicken with cabbage, omg so good for $10. I ate on it for 2 days. will be back soon
