Food is NOT consistently good. Cost way too much. Service is bad. Bought 1 Ox Tails plate 2 extra plantains and extra gravy with 2 drinks $26.00 for my partner. The oxtails were tiny and some were nothing but bones. I decided to call the owner the next day and let him know. He stated we were given too much food. How would he know when he didn't box my food he peeped in the box? The lady who in fact did boxed the dinner kept saying while spooning the oxtails in the box she was looking for "good ones". She was moving what I now think were bones around. She was nice but the owner walks out the back and opens my box at the register and gets a straight up attitude to the point I asked him "It's everything O.K?" He replies "Yes!" with the same attitude. Then he walks away and starts chastising the female worker about the way she prepared my food. Anyways, I went home with food and my partner came home to get the food around 9pm to find bones and very little meat. Which prompted the called I made the next day. The owner did not offer to make it right or refund us. I don't think the customer is always right but in this case we were. Been there in the past and never had an issue with them giving us all baby oxtails with very little meat. I did have an issue with the oxtails being tough once, but thought to give them another try since the owner was Armed Forces and my partner is a Combat Vet. with several tours.... Plus this is a business in our neighborhood. My partner stated and I agree with him. They have lost 2 regular customers today.
I have been to a lot of Jamaican restaurant but I have never seen a restaurant so clean with great service. The food is really great! Definitely the best in the Atlanta area. The Oxtail, Stew Peas, Curry Goat and Conch soup is off the chain. Try it for your self and you will see what I mean. Definitely one of the best Jamaican restaurant to go to when in Atlanta. Also, want to mention that the owner is a retired U.S. Soldier and the place reflects his character. Keep up the good work Jamaica Finest. :-.
Excellent! The food here is delicious. The place is clean, quiet with the island music in the background and the host was very nice. If you're thinking about trying this place out, DO IT! Don't hesitate. The food plates come in nice heaping sizes!
1. Their food is overpriced!!! $11.76 for a small jerk chicken plate? RIDICULOUS. 2. They give you little food for such a steep price. 3. The chicken and the rice and peas was DRY as HELL!!!!!!!!!! I could barely swallow my food. 4. The rice was also crunchy. 5. The only thing that was okay was the cabbage and plantains. Bottom line is this place is not worth the money it charges you. The food is VERY mediocre and I’m so saddened that my money was wasted on garbage. This is not authentic Jamaican food. Please avoid this place!!!!!!
Had oxtails delivered to my home. They were 97.9% fat. The cake was tasteless and stale. The plantains were mushy. The delivery person came to the door trying to remove lint from his hair. I was new to area and thought I would try some of the food in area. What a disappointment in several restaurants, not just this place.
I came through last April 2011 and stayed in the area overnight on my way to Ohio. I didn't get much help for eating places from the hotel so I started looking. I found this place and was very glad I did. The food was wonderful and seemed authentic to me. What would I know? Anyway, it was great! I will be stopping both directions on my annual Florida trip. See you guys soon!!
This was my first and last time coming here . I love jamaica food but i should of known it wasnt going to be good because as soon as we walked in the lady that was fixing our food had a nasty attitude. I ordered the jerk chicken and bit into it,it was dry. I had to ask the lady for more sauce but that still didn't help my dry chicken. The bread we ordered was nasty and the food didnt have any kinda season on it .
Im pregnant and I crave oxtails about 3 times a week but I didn't have time to stop by my regular spot so I decided to try Jamacias Finest. Small oxtail is $16 for six pieces of meat and the large is $18. I ordered the small oxtails. The gravy was bland no flavor to it and the oxtails were big but majority was fat. The cabbage was over cooked and smelled old while the rice and peas were simply not cooked. Rice should never be hard nor the peas. Won't ever come back very disappointed!!
Meh! Not good, not bad you decide? I worked there for a while the owner doesn't know how to talk to his employee's to my knowledge everyone that worked their stopped working their because of him I was only there because I needed the money he seems nice but he's not and he's picky with the food, gives 3 pieces of oxtail for small and five for large and if he See's you giving more he argue's when customers are gone. And the store is very expensive.
I went in today to get a order of jerk chicken. I didn't notice the employee female with either dreads or braids by the register when I first walked in but when I locked eyes with her she didn't part her lips to speak, nor did she offer a friendly smile. I asked for a small white meat jerk chicken plate and thought nothing of it. The employee asked did I want any sauce and I asked her did they have mild sauce. She said "no ma'am", I said "excuse me", and she said again a little louder "no ma'am". I then said "no thank you" and she put the container on the counter with what appeared to me a slight attitude. When the employee rang up my order, I noticed she changed an extra .75 cents. When I asked what the extra fee was, she stated it was for the "white meat". I was a little salty about it because I ordered a small plate and it was already $12.00 so to charge any more was ridiculous! I thought that being charged 12 bucks for a small CHICKEN plate was absurd enough but the extra .75 cents was nothing but greed and robbery!!! When I got home and started eating the chicken, I couldn't believe that "this" came from an authentic Jamaican restaurant! The meat was dry and mushy, it didn't have any real texture to it, and it tasted like it had been soaked in vinegar or something, and it wasn't cooked on a grill or it didn't taste like it had been, it tasted like it was cooked uncovered in an oven. I was totally disappointed from start to finish and I did not finish the food I literally just picked over it becaus I was hungry. I went online to read reviews about this establishment and decided to write one of my own. If you're not in business to COMPLETELY satisfy your customers then you need to close the door and lock it for good! I don't mind spending my money for good/quality food but nothing grinds my gears more than to feel like I threw my money down I-75. Needless to say, I will not be back regardless of how convient this place may be! I'll continue to drive downtown to Jamrock off of Metropolitan Parkway... more bang for my buck, friendly service AND the jerk chicken is actually cooked outside on a grill!!! Oh yeah, Jamrock offers "mild" jerk sauce for those of us who are too wimpy to eat the hot!
