James Landing Grille

Good resort for our golf group. We enjoyed the 2 and 3-bedroom condos. A little dated but still nice. Good breakfast buffet $25. Nice courses.Rooms: 4/5

Everything was perfect. The view was amazing. Our room was clean. Staff was extremely friendly. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Bar drinks at river pool were perfect. The river pool was great. Spa was lovely. Close to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Did not have dinner on property. Can't wait to return.Rooms: 5/5

We came for a family vacation for The Weekend for the first time last weekend. Absolutely Loved the resort atmosphere. I went to the spa for a facial and that was amazing too! Brunch at the buffet is a must with the water views! My only meh comment was that the bed we slept on was a little old and the springs were felt in the bed, and the air conditioning barely reached the bedroom condo rental. Other than that we plan on coming back again!

Starting with the check in process the staff were all super friendly and helpful so off to a great start. Finding our room was also quite easy and the information provided at check in was great. Having the number to text and ask questions is super helpful and it’s great that they are doing that since everything is done on a phone these days. Room was super clean, beds were great, pillows were even more great. The shower was also AMAZING like that alone was worth the trip. The river view was awesome definitely recommend opting for that. The golf course and staff were great as well….the river course is fantastic! The location of Kingsmill is also perfect so that’s a huge plus. Can’t wait to visit again. We loved this place. It was so close to all the historical sites plus only an hour drive to Virginia Beach. Rooms and service were top notch! So clean, the view was right on the water and anything you needed while staying they were a text a away! We would stay here againRooms: 5/5

The location is amazing. It’s right outside of Busch garden and the staff is amazing. The waterfront properties were picture perfect for your morning coffee and breakfast. The only reason I would rate it down a star is the carpet and outdated furniture. However the staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. They even brought our crib and high chair before our arrival. We will be back soon.

Horrible!! In my opinion, Do NOT bother to book this “resort”. We Booked a 2 bedroom house. It was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. The grounds around it were unkempt. There were large spider webs hanging all over the windows inside and outside. The toilet did not work. The ac did not work. There was mold all over the primary bathroom and the soap holder was falling down and molding. Silverfish coming out of the drain. There were large stains all over the upstairs carpet. The whole house smelled of something…There was one fire alarm missing and the wires were hanging out. Staff didn’t argue it was a mess. But they couldn’t find another place for us to stay in as they said they were booked. The house was in an unrentable condition. Not sure why management would ever let anyone book that expensive mess. We didn’t even last the night before finding somewhere else to stay. It was a horrible experience! Save yourself time and energy and book somewhere else.

This is the fourth time I have visited this resort. The rooms and service continue to be top notch. However, I am disappointed at the reduced hours at the pool. My kids love swimming at night and the pool closes at 8:00.Rooms: 5/5

James Landing Grille is as bad of arestaurant as I’ve ever been to. Table was filthy. The bathrooms were filthy. The service was just somebody trying to figure it out. We ordered six dishes between the six of us the steak was sent back because it was a $33 hunk of overcooked leather ordered, medium rare, maybe a half inch thick, my salmon, which was I think $32 was the tail end i.e. cheapest cut so over cooked it was turned to near sawdust. They came served with the same chips that they give away for free while you wait forever for the food to come out and some sort of lima bean succotash, none of which were any good. One of the kids had a so-called Smashburger came out with everything on it that she did not ask for, and it was to the point that she insisted on a new bun which took so long that the burger was cold, but it arrived, and it did not come with catch-up once again. literally everything we asked for between food and drink was either incredibly delayed poorly made or inefficiently served. The three of the seven dishes had to be augmented with me hunting things down throughout the restaurant. I will say that the bartender was clearly a mature and service oriented person who noticed everything and helped correct all the mistakes. Not just a bad experience at a restaurant but a memorably bad experience at an expensive restaurant. I would highly recommend going virtually any place else within 5 miles there is a Wendy’s, for example or whales landing anything in between would also be better. I do not understand why the bartender still works there when she could be making so much more in a much better place. My only advice is you cannot save this please just get the heck out.

The lazy river pool is where it's at. Run, don't walk, to the lazy river pool for the most relaxing vacation of your life. Me and my kids age 9 and 16 floated endless loops around that lazy river pool for what felt like hours. I recommend the buildings overlooking the James River! I sat outside with my coffee on our deck and was greeted with a pod of dolphins playing outback for almost an hour one morning. A deer also walked by.
