I originally saw doctor Loyola to have my wisdom teeth taken out. I had a top tooth that was starting to descend because I blindly agreed to having the one underneath it pulled by a different dentist. I was left traumatized when that happened. The previous dentist did it while I was awake and it was a horrible experience. Then I ended up with dry socket after. I turned doctor Loyola after he was recommended to me to have the rest taken out. He was able to get me in quickly and did a fantastic job. This was a much better experience. I was virtually painless and no dry socket this time! Not long after that I had a root canal that ended up getting infected and I needed to have the tooth removed and an implant placed. I returned to Dr. Loyola's office in some serious pain. They were able to get me in immediately. He removed the tooth and in 4 months placed the implant. It came out great. No complaints. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that I know. He is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain things to me. If I could give a 10 star rating I would!
Works with insurance unlike other oral surgeons. The staff was great, mostly. Not so much the doctor, my daughter went here & the entire experience was awful. She said he was cold and somewhat short with her while she was going under & they sent her out to me without being able to get a blood pressure reading. I was informed during the extraction they did receive a reading of bp that was high, however not after the teeth were removed. I insisted to get one and after 3 times we could not. She was not cold or shaking she was literally incoherent. Her color was gone like completely & she was unable to see. She was seen at a hospital near by where she was cared for and treated. I would pay triple if I was forced to have her wisdom teeth removed rather than go here. My son has footage from as soon as she was wheeled out of the office & it’s hard to watch. I also have footage from the moment she was brought to me. Other patients walked out and witnessed how she was and was very concerned. I spoke with the doctor himself and he looked at me and stared as if he wanted to go off but contained himself. I felt we were in the way and they wanted me to shut up and leave. I have made written complaints to several boards. We arrived late to the appt due to a roadblock/accident and walked in the door 12 minutes late exactly. I called to inform them when the traffic slowed down immediately. If this is the reason my daughter was treated this way, because of timing that would just be awful! We literally did everything we could to be there on time. I mention this in hopes of educating others in expectations and admitting what I feel we did wrong but could not avoid. We went in on a Friday & paid more for this day but the waiting room was so full I don’t think it’s the best decision. I feel the experience is rushed & time is placed above care.
I got my lower wisdom teeth out three weeks ago Wednesday & am so glad I chose this surgeon. He set realistic expectations for the experience and showed me the problems with my 360 degree x ray on a large flatscreen. He also told me my upper wisdom teeth could stay since they weren't painful or impacted, and I appreciated his concern for my well-being over extra revenue. The front office went over my bill with me in detail at the initial consult without me having to ask and it was nice to understand what I vs. insurance was paying for. FYI, they do charge a credit card fee so you may want to bring a debit card or your checkbook to your consult to be able to pay the deposit to schedule the procedure at that time. They had availability the day after my consult, which was great. The surgical assistant was one of the sweetest people I've ever met & I felt very well cared for throughout. The recovery was not bad at all, my coworkers were surprised by my lack of puffy cheeks or bruising when I got back to work that next Monday. I am sure it was largely due to Dr. Loyola's skill and precision, as well as the steroid & antibiotic prescriptions I received to prevent infection.
I would recommend Dr Loyola to anyone looking for wonderful dental care. I had a wisdom tooth pulled and another procedure. I was extremely nervous and both the staff and doctor were great - they explained everything thoroughly and it went well. Overall, the office and staff made me feel really confident and comfortable - more than any other dentist's office that I've been to.
Five stars for Dr. Loyola and his staff. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful. Mrs. Nicole was the one I first talked to on the phone to set up my appointment for teeth extraction. She really cared and tried to make sure that my dental insurance would pay for my visit even though it took her time. My experience for 4 wisdom teeth and 3 other teeth extraction was pleasant and painless even after the surgery. Highly recommend! I just want to update my experience. It turned out the office overcharged me, almost double what I was supposed to pay. It would have been fine if they had given me back the full refund. But they didn’t. I had to come to the office to talk in person to someone in charge of billing after some failed phone calls. Luckily for me that person was in the office that day. She told me she had to charge my first visit for consultation and X-ray. The thing is they never did the X-ray. They got it mailed from my orthodontist. Also I was told on my first visit that it would be covered by the insurance. When I talked to the lady in billing, she said they sent the claim to my insurance but was denied. Thing, again, is they never did. I’ve never seen a claim from my account for that visit. I called the insurance and they confirmed the same thing. Only one claim from that office for my teeth surgery! Even though my surgery by Dr. Loyola went pretty well, I still have to say that the billing operation there is a scam. After admitting that they didn’t do the X-ray, they refunded me for that service but not the consultation insisting that they claimed to the insurance but was denied which they never did. And they never gave me the detailed bill for that charge. I had to pay out of my pocket. If they had claimed, that would have been counted toward my deductibles. I talked to my insurance and they said I could sue them for improper practice and fraud but I don’t want to do that. Dr. Loyola is a great doctor. I edited this review so that people should be aware of billing issues that might happen. So sad that it was not a great experience after all!
I just recently underwent a wisdom tooth extraction and couldn't be more pleased with the result. Dr. Loyola and his team did an excellent job. I had three teeth removed in total and had minimal bleeding none at all following the first day of surgery and little to no pain. I don't know much about dentistry, but I'll go ahead and chalk that up as a direct result of Dr. Loyola's care and attention to detail during the operation. The staff is extremely friendly and was always helpful, highly recommend.
Dr. Loyola was wonderful along with the entire staff. I had my wisdom teeth removed and experienced little to no pain during or after surgery. Never did I need to take my pain pills, which was unexpected due to what I've heard from others who say that wisdom removal is excruciating...they must not have been to James' practice. I will be sure to return even if I move out of state for any other dental surgeries. This is coming from a person who was once traumatized by going to the dentist. Keep up the good work. -Kathryn Brown
My daughter went here back in 2011. She praised the work that the doctor had did. Now in 2016 they have sent me a bill for 147.00. They were paid what they asked for. They explained that my insurance was used up by the dentist who referred me and told me i had to pay out of pocket. I paid 123.00 for the first visit and 305.00 after the extraction. Now i am getting a bill for 147.00 which includes a no show charge for 75.00 back in 2014. She did make an appointmentback in 2014. This was a one time visit for 1 extraction. WOW!!!! I feel like i am being scammed!
Very good experience with recent tooth extraction. Small friendly office with state of the art equipment. Treatment room for oral surgery has large windows overlooking oak trees - which helped me relax. Experienced & efficient team plus convenient Mid-City location above anytime fitness.
Very pleasant and courteous staff. Office is always clean and refreshing
