Professor James Shook and his instructors are phenomenal! I first started with Professor James back in 2009 and instantly fell in love with the art of BJJ. So much that I enrolled my son at the age of 6 which was 3 years ago. One thing I will say about this academy, it's a Family gym. 75% of the kids who participate have parents who also participate in taking the classes. There are no "Gorillas" trying to be the next UFC or MMA world champion. No one to use you as a stepping stone to achieve their goal. Here, everyone is helpful and kind. It's a place where we all grow together. I can't recommend this place enough.
Checked it out in May 2015, started training in August 2015 and now it's 2023 and I still train. It's a great gym to be associated with and it attracts a lot of great people.
Excellent instructors. The gym is small enough for a good student to teacher ratio, but big enough for a class to grapple. The facility is clean and well cared for. A fantastic place to learn Jiu Jitsu.
All four of my children train at James Shook Jiu-Jitsu. Each of them love it and are able to excel, despite their differences, thanks to the diligence and teaching style of the gym's professors. They say, "IT'S AWESOME!"
Great place to learn self defense and incredible instructor! I’ve learned so much and continue to keep learning more each day I come here! If I could give 10 stars I would!
Recently visited from out of town for a week and was looking for a place to train. The school was very welcoming, accommodating, and has great instructors. Enjoyed my time training with everyone there!
New white belt reporting in, all the coaches are approachable and take time to offer advice in and out of class. The fellow students are even quick to welcome a guy like me who wants to roll hard every time I'm on the mat.
