I previously left a pretty negative review and I deleted it. I’m going to change it to a neutral but more positive review. I just want to say that I had a bad ER experience with my daughter but I followed up with patient services about it and they are doing something about it which I find honorable and admirable. I understand hospitals are short staffed and nurses and doctors are on high demand with little help. People have bad days. Nurses are human just like anybody else. This is likely what led to the experience I had. But I want to thank the hospital for listening to my concerns after the fact and following up with the emergency department to see where it went wrong. Thank you Jameson for making it right. I have a little more faith if we ever need care there again.
My wife was admitted to the ER yesterday. We were there for over 30 hours. They told us we had a room upstairs to move today. They later came and said no room was available so we had to stay in the ER They then show up at 11:45 pm with no warning and tell us they are moving her to the other side of ER, the "B" side. No warning just here you go. Charge nurse says it's policy to move patients who are considered inpatient. Bad timing for all that's going on. Our daughters drove from out of town to see their sick mom. She had the audacity to tell me about visitor policy and they would have to go. That is some BS. This was resolved in a good way...
It’s a shame that this is the main hospital in New Castle. My daughter had a fever of 103 and has been extremely lethargic. My husband and I decided it was best to take her last night. They sat in the waiting room for 3 hours! 3 hours! Listen, I understand everywhere is understaffed and our medical field is wearing thin due to everything. The waiting room was empty. No one checked on them, or said anything. They just let them sit there while she was miserable, exhausted and very sick. She was trying to sleep in a super uncomfortable chair. Do better.
I came into the ER at noon on a Friday, with kidney stones. I didn't have human interaction for over 4 hours, except for the strict police security at the door. The ER wasn't busy at all, yet I was not given an exam room until 6 hours later. Upon laying on the uncomfortable bed, I noticed how filthy the room was. Above all, there were no blankets offered and the staff was cold towards me. I spent 7 uncomfortable hours in a dirty hospital with nothing to eat, and I am type 1 Diabetic! This place is like visiting prison. The hospital experience was worse than my kidney stones.
Extremely rude ER nurse who yelled at my loved one because she was screaming in pain. She died 4 days later after a trip back to the hospital. Horrible communication. Lost my loved one and wasn’t able to see her before she passed in part because of zero of communication from the day time nurse and stupid Covid CCU visitation policy / hours. I live over an hour away. After being told she’d be ok overnight, I asked if I could still come to stay with her overnight but was told visiting hours started at 8 or 9 am. I was prepared to be there in the morning as soon as visiting hours started. They called me a couple hours later saying I should come up immediately. She died 20 minutes after that call while I was on the road trying to get there. I would have been there for her but was told I couldn’t be there overnight. So she died alone with only a nurse supposedly by her side. The only saving grace was some level of compassion from the overnight CCU staff….the only reason I’m not rating it one star. It’s now trauma that I have to live with the rest of my life.
My aunt was admitted into the icu yesterday, we came to visit today and upon arriving we see a nurse sitting in the room with her, she was end of life so she was really just sleeping and in and out of it, and he was just sitting there keeping her company. That right there really meant the world to me. He wasn’t on his phone or reading or anything, just sitting there in case she woke up and wanted company. His name was Jon and I really truly hope this kid gets a raise and goes far in life. The nurse we had after shift change was also really sweet, we didn’t interact much with her but she did say she held her hand as she passed. Truly great employees who are in the field they are meant to be. Thank you guys. My uncle needed that extra love you gave.
After having a fever for days it reached 103 and wouldn’t break. My boyfriend decided to take me to the hospital and took me here because it was the closest to us. I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours in a wheelchair I was to weak to even stand or walk with said fever, violently vomiting, shivering like crazy, crying in pain feeling like I was gonna pass out. Once they took my blood work I did pass out. Finally got me into a room. I asked for a bed pan multiple times because I was to weak to keep walking to the bathroom. Never got one. Numerous tests were taken, nothing was explained to me, and everyone there seemed like they did not want to be there. Will never come back here again. Not to mention how dirty the floors in my room were.
TRASH!!! TERRIBLE! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! If I could rate 0 stars I would! Just make the drive to Sharon Regional because you'll die in the waiting room here. Took my 1 year old son in around 11:30pm with a 102.8 fever his whole body head to toe was HOT to the touch and were still in the waiting room at 3AM. A BABY WITH A FEVER ABOUT TO BREAK 103 DEGREES and we were told "Well no one's been discharged yet and you have about 4 people still in front of you." A fever that high is much more damaging to a baby than it is to an adult. We waited long enough. We left. 10 outta 10 NEVER AGAIN. Do yourself a favor just go somewhere else. I've also attached a photo of someone FINALLY being seen at UPMC Jameson.
I can not thank the doctors, nurses and staff enough for their kindness, attentiveness and empathy while my father was there. My father was quite ill when he was brought in for surgery. Upon arrival we found he was too ill to proceed with the scheduled surgery and was going to pass on. He took his time! Through all of this, the doctors and nurses were so very kind to our family and treated him with the care and respect he deserved. They were prompt with his pain medicine, the doctors continuously asked if we had questions and even made sure my mother had hot tea and something to eat. Again, thank you.
No urgency to see patients. Seems to be total disregard for care. Staff very slow with zero care or motivation to move faster. The intake lady told me that there is a guy waiting on a room for over 7 hours. I’ve read multiple reviews and the “owner” asks to fill out a questionnaire to “make things better” but the problem is is I read reviews months old and days old, all with about the same complaints. Go somewhere else, not here, if you care about your health.
