The new management or owners at this hotel are great ... friendly, knowledgeable, and they have been spending a lot of effort, time, money on bringing this property up to Choice Hotels standards. We had a good stay there, with excellent, comfy bed and bedding, extra-clean bathroom, good amenities. The location is central to everything in the immediate area. Parking was right in front of our room, which we prefer. Our non-smoking room did not smell of smoke - we were very grateful for that. All rooms should be fairly quiet, as there is no highway nearby.
We have been coming here for decades - sometimes bringing friends. It's always been nice. The new managers and staff are delightful. The parking lot got improved while we there and they plan to keep making enhancements to this vintage drive-in motel. We love walking around the quaint, friendly town. Enjoyed getting carryout food or eating at places burger and coffee places with sofas. Did the tunnel hike and museum.
The room was very quiet and clean. The bed was really comfortable. I was so happy when I saw the free continental breakfast. It is a true continental breakfast, not like some other places that call cereal/oatmeal and fruit a free continental breakfast. They had a waffle machine, yogurt, juice, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, muffins and fruit! Very pleased. Coffee… not so much. Hard to get good coffee at hotels now that they all have conformed to the packet/pouch style brewing. I think it makes the coffee weak and gives it less taste. But other than that, a wonderful stay!
The condition of the hotel was a bit shabby. They were Stains in the mirror, loose bathroom fixtures, crud and the caulk of the mirror, second rate craftsmanship holes and cracks in the wall. The location is kind of a dump. Waynesboro is a ghost town. Felt more like a motel and a hotel. It seems like there were people living out of this hotel. The bed was comfy, water pressure was good and the room wasn’t dirty. The selection of cable TV was also pretty good. Bottom line the room was not worth what I was charged at all.
New owners, busting their azzzzz to get everything up to snuff. Rooms are being remodeled and outside as well. They had just resurfaced parking lot and were starting w some bldg exterior restoration at the time of my stay. Rate was fantastic and room was really nice/updated/etc.
Check-in and out was easy. Room did not smell like smoke. Areas of the room including a shelf was dusty/dirty. Did not hear neighbors but saw some walking or sitting around outside. Free self-parking
New Management, Same Low Standard. Even after reading all of the negative reviews about this place years and months ago I saw that the staff had responded there was new management so I gave this place a chance. I booked a room so I could go snowboarding up at Wintergreen. I booked the room online at 2pm Fri Jan 28th. I drove up 3 hrs and arrived late afternoon around 5pm. Upon arrival I waited about 5-10 minutes until I was finally greeted by staff as they were chit chatting in the back. The younger lady was kind so I felt some relief about the negligence. I was provided room 150 which is located in the detached building located behind the primary building where the lobby is. Walking into the room I immediately noticed a bit of an underwhelming smell in the room, but nothing to draw too much concern. In a rush, I quickly changed and made my way to the mountain to enjoy the slopes. I returned around 9pm. The hours spent on the slope must have cleared my sinuses cause the smell that didn’t seem too much of a concern in the beginning was now extremely potent upon return. It wreaked of mildew and cigarettes. The room being deemed a non-smoking room and the fact that they charge a $100 deposit, which may I add was not outlined during reservation, made the situation even more underwhelming. I work in hospitality as well so I tried to locate the source which lead me towards the independent hvac unit in the room. To my disgust it was filled with a heavy coating of dust indicating lack of proper and regular preventative maintenance. With such dissatisfaction I decided I no longer wanted to spend the night so I just changed clothes, packed my things and loaded up. When I went to the lobby to notify the front desk that I no longer wanted the room, yet again, negligence. Though this time with an older lady. When I walked into the lobby she was sitting behind the desk on her phone. I waited quietly for a few minutes considering that she may be handling something important and work related. After a few minutes I saw her smiling at her phone to which I decided to politely interrupt to get her attention. I told her the situation and requested a refund to which she immediately denied as they have a 24 hr cancellation policy even after I told her I just made the reservation earlier that day. Then even after explaining the situation to her she denied the refund claiming that I was in the room for 5 hrs. Correction, I was in the room for an accumulated time of 30 minutes, max. I explained to her that I didn’t use anything in the room except to change and she could walk in there herself to verify. She refused. In an attempt to better the situation she offered me another room in the primary building. I respectfully declined, though she insisted so I gave the courtesy of at least inspecting the room. I admit the quality of the room was better, but not by much. The new room she offered wreaked of urine near the entry way mixed with heavy floral freshener. As you could assume I was yet again, dissatisfied. The front desk clerk then offered me another room to inspect to which I again declined. I don’t know about any of you, but I absolutely dislike those whom play the game of “Let’s cross my fingers and hope this other room is better.” Opposed to verifying the quality of the product or service your providing prior to making it available to the public. To further frustration even though I checked out and left at 10pm, 5 hours after checking in, the front desk clerk said the system would not let her check me out of the system until after 4am the next day. So even though I returned the key and notified the front desk I was leaving, not using the room and gone by 10pm, the receipt shows that I checked out the morning after at 7am. This place is a scam. In the end, still no refund. Customer Service 1/5 Stars Cleanliness/Upkeep 1/5 Stars Overall: Terrible Recommendation: Avoid this location. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
Our company was hired by the City of Waynesboro to install thermoplastic crosswalks. The work was scheduled for night time due to traffic issues. It was important to us that our workers were able to sleep in the daytime. The staff was very accomodating, cleaning after their normal hours. The rooms were large and comfortable. There was a large, lighted area in the rear to park our equipment. All of our boxes were checked, making this stay a great value. If you decide to stay there and need anything special, just ask for Tarpeta, a very gracious hostess with the most warm and beautiful smile.
Incredible value. Owners and staff are all exceptionally friendly, rooms are great and the pool is the icing on the cake. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Just stayed here, it was great. The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly, the breakfast was great hot, and the price was excellent. They went above the call. I will be staying here every time I come to Waynesboro!Rooms: 5/5
