Jarrett J. Ferentino, is a principal in the law firm of Pugliese, Finnegan, Shaffer & Ferentino LLC, in Kingston. Jarrett handles litigation and personal injury matters representing individuals, families, companies, and government clients. He has been part of complex corporate matters in both state and federal court and has successfully handled cases that have attracted statewide, national and international attention.
Jarrett has been named as Rising Star in Philadelphia Magazine’s Super Lawyers annual publication. He has received recognition in the local media and has been the recipient of several awards for his professional and civic work. In addition, he has been featured as a legal expert on WBRE and WNEP. He has provided analysis in many matters including daily commentary in the Commonwealth v. Jerry Sandusky and related cases.
In 2004, Jarrett joined the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office and remains an Assistant District Attorney. He has tried many criminal cases including capital homicides, aggravated assaults and has previously specialized in drug prosecutions. In 2015 he was a lead prosecutor and secured two first-degree murder convictions in Commonwealth v. Hugo Selenski. In 2014, Jarrett secured a first-degree murder conviction in the Sherman Hills execution-style slaying of Shantique Goodson in the case of Commonwealth v. Kenneth Evans. In 2009, He successfully prosecuted Alan Leitzel and Tiffany Simmons for the killing of 3-month old Xavier Simmons. He secured a first-degree murder conviction in Commonwealth v. Joseph Gacha for the capital murder of Luzerne County Fair Queen Carrie Martin. He has secured two first-degree murder convictions in the domestic violence murder cases of Commonwealth v. Donnell Buckner and Commonwealth v. John Stone. He has successfully prosecuted the county’s only two “Homicide by Heart Attack” cases. He has been part of some of the largest drug busts in county history.
In our community, Jarrett is a former Director with the Domestic Violence Service Center, Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre, Wilkes-Barre Chapter of UNICO, and the Salvation Army. He is a former Director with the Domestic Violence Service Center. He is a member, Past President and Board Chairman of the Wilkes-Barre Chapter of UNICO. He completed a term of service as a Board Member to the Greater Pittston Y.M.C.A and served as President of St. Rocco’s Holy Name Society in Pittston. He is a former Director and now serves as Special Counsel to Marley’s Mission.
