My Name is Jay I live in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut where I have been a life long resident. As far back as I can remember I have had two passions Building Things & Fishing.
In High School I took Art & Woodworking where I learned about Changes in humidity and its effects on wood, & how to use Design & Joinery to ward off it's ill effects. I learned about choosing wood for projects, about matching Color & Grain & Figure . I was taught how to Use & Maintain the many Hand Tools & Machines needed for my trade.
After High School I worked for various construction companies Doing everything from Foundations to Cabinetry & all processes in between. I learned how to fit The many Systems In Homes without compromising Structure , Function & Form & Ascetics
In 1980 I started sub contracting various parts of Construction projects, everything from Roofing, Siding, Framing ,Interior & Exterior Finishes,Cabinets & Built-ins.
In 1996 I started General Contracting, Design Homes, Additions, Studios, Barns,Wine Cellars,Kitchens & Baths, Cabinets & Built-ins and about anything else my clients wanted.
In 1987 I built a shop & started collecting the many Specialty tools & Machines required to fabricate Custom Windows, Doors, Moldings & Cabinetry for the Homes I was building. I have always pushed my boundaries& expanded my knowledge by exploring techniques not used on a daily basis. Marquetry,Inlay, Bent Laminations, Steam bending & Vacuum Pressing are but a few of my explorations.
Well 35 years have pasted & I still Build & Repair Homes but am turning my Focus more toward Furniture, Cabinetry, & Interior Finish Work. Over the years I have developed a wide base of suppliers to draw from, & can acquire just about any wood available on the market.

I Design pieces that are unique to my clients by Hand Picking each piece for Color Grain & Figure To assure an ascetically Pleasing piece, Especialy if a natural Finish, like a Hand Rubbed Oil Or Wax is requested. We will dicuss the, Design,The Wood choice, The Joinery, or Techniques, The Finish and The Budget for the Piece .
