WILLIAM DUKE, D.P.M.
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up a Cardinal baseball fan my entire life. I developed a passion for medicine at an early age watching my grandmother deal with the devastating effects of diabetes and also having to deal with my own injuries while playing sports. Some of these injuries required surgical care and thankfully the doctors caring for me did an exceptional job and further sparked my interest in becoming a physician.
I attended Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois where I received my undergraduate degree in biological sciences and a minor in chemistry. I was fortunate enough to play college football while at Quincy University and I also met my wife, Amy. Amy is a native of Jefferson City and attended Helias High School.
After a year of marriage Amy and I moved to Chicago, Illinois where I attended the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at the Chicago Medical School. After 4 years of medical school I completed 3 years of residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital Medical Center in Chicago. During my final year of residency I served as Chief Resident.
While in residency at Mt. Sinai hospital, a level one-trauma center, I received extensive training in foot and ankle trauma including fractures and dislocations. I also developed a deeper understanding and the necessary surgical skills to help patients suffering from congenital and acquired deformities (e.g. bunions, hammertoes, clubfoot) of the foot and ankle for people of all ages, from childbirth through adulthood.
Certified-American-Board-Of-Foot-And-Ankle-Surgery-LargeWhile in Chicago two of my four boys were born, Jacob and Connor. We also became guardians of another young man, David. While in medical school I coached football and lacrosse at the middle school and high school levels and my love of sports medicine increased several times over. Treating sprains, strains, heel pain and tendon and ligament injuries became of particular interest because of my involvement in sports as a player and a coach. I knew I wanted to be able to help athletes return to play sooner and with a lessened concern of re-injury. I now could see full circle the view-point of player, coach and physician and my ability to treat any of these conditions was much clearer.
In 2006 I started the podiatry department at Jefferson City Medical Group and shortly there after our last child, Samuel, was born. Bringing the count to four boys. Since the inception of JCMG podiatry I have enjoyed lecturing several times in the local community to many different groups including patients, other health care providers and even certified professional medical coders. I currently am an active faculty staff member at JCMG’s surgery center and St. Mary’s hospital. I treat patients at the wound care center at St. Mary’s as well. I am board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Besides being a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus I have the privilege of continuing my community involvement by serving on the Blair Oaks R-II school board and coaching high school football at Blair Oaks. I enjoy coaching my sons’ baseball teams and just spending time being their dad.
At JCMG Podiatry our goal is to provide comprehensive conservative and surgical care of the foot and ankle for any age and any activity level. My training as well as Dr. McAleer’s training allows us to provide elite podiatric care to all of our patients.
