With the population density of the earth greater than ever, who knows whether our planet can sustain us? Stephen Hawking suggests we pack our bags for Mars or the moon and get out while we can.
Joe Dillon's work focuses on environmental issues with special attention to population density and global warming. Some of his signature pieces are carnival-style spin art done on peg board on a much larger scale. Complete with spiraling galaxies and organic forms, they are comments on the accelerated growth of the human race from the seeds of the universe. The nature of the peg-board base creates two-sided pieces with split personalities. On one side the paint disappears into the black holes; on the other, streaks and splatters radiate from the void.
