During my first week I was offered to start talking with a therapist instead of sitting in front of someone for 5 minutes and then prescribing meds that I may not have needed. Note was made for a therapist to call me and it never happened. Second time I went in and requested a therapist myself. 3 months later and no therapist, I felt they weren't giving proper treatment and weren't doing their jobs right. Get it together Jefferson Behavioral. Mental health is so important yet this place treats their patients on an in and out basis without really understanding what they need.
Wouldn’t have been so bad if reception wasn’t so rude and lazy. I haven’t even been able to get my first therapist appointment they said they would call and let me know when it would be but I never got one so I called them. They said I didn’t have anything scheduled yet and to wait for someone to call me. So I sat and waited for someone to call for a week and a half then I got a letter saying I missed my appointment. I decided to call and reschedule they put me through three different people, all rude just so one could put me through to a therapists voice mail box who wasn’t even my therapist.
Very unprofessional. I first walked up to the patient window, the lady was rude. She couldn't hear me from her seat in the back, so she had to get up and actually come to the window. Once there, she handed me some paperwork to fill out. She asked if I had insurance, I do not. So she kind of looked at me funny, my husband then told her he was paying with cash. So she said ok. I took a seat in the waiting room and started to fill out the paperwork.. I will say they were prompt to get me back to room. I signed a few documents. Then was taken the someone whom I assume is a counselor of some sort. My husband went back with me. We sat down, she asked me how I felt, what I thought. I spoke for about 5 minutes, then my husband took over. After that, I couldn't get a word in. It was like my husband was doing the evaluation for me. She was pretty much letting him speak for me. RIDICULOUS!! That's when I realized this place didnt care about the patient, if so, they would have listened to the patient, then listened to the husband. Now wouldn't you think in a profession like this, you would talk to each person separate? These people should be trained to listen to patients and spouses separately. What if I was in a dangerous situation that kept me from saying what I really thought? I guess speaking to us together is quicker, and relieves them from doing their job correctly. I made several calls to different facilities and this is not how they practice. They actually talk to each person separately. Anyhow, long story short, I picked up my things and left. I already knew what my husband diagnosed me with before we spent the money.
They saved my life so it is a shame that they are no longer receiving public funding. Yes they became a bit cocky & arrogant at one point but, they have a solid staff even now who seem to care about the clients more than just the paper work. Gave them four not five because of their low tech style. I do not want phone calls I want text or e-mails, I do not want to call them I want to text or e-mail them and I want to be able to read my after visit or notes on-line. Edit: Since being back at JBHS I have found them to have become very unprofessional in their case Management. They have a large turn over rate & so high they can not communicate these changes in a timely manner. Next they are even more in the dark ages of technology than when I was with them in the past it is very scary how 1980's they are in this area it is almost like they are so old that tech scares them. They are so backwards they do not have a web site or e-mail address listed in contact info...That is truly backwards. Shame they went backwards not forwards here.
-The mental institution part, okay service but only giving 2 stars because of my safety issues and I had things stolen behind locked doors only nurses were allowed through, and these things did not just 'get lost' because this stuff was all sealed in a zipped bag. -Also the doctors in the mental health department seem to ignore some of the issues you may bring to their attention, giving 2 stars -And lastly the er, I came in needing stiches after a night of drinking for them to tell me that i was pregnant and I was never brought a water or hooked up to an iv after I just lost a lot of blood, then being drrunk and to top it off being pregnant, giving 2 stars maybe 3 because the nurse seemed to have a heart and mightve just been new
My therapist is amazing, but the desk staff leaves a lot to be desired. Not the least bit compassionate. And maybe give them a break room to eat in? Woman literally opened the window still chewing.
Was told a therapist would call me within the week and never got a call back. I talked to someone after fling out my papers and they said I had severe depression and anxiety and PTSD. I guess it wasnt important for me to get my medication or talk to anyone. What a joke of a place.
This is a high quality evidenced based provider of mental health and addiction services. I have dedicated more than 1/2 my life's work to this agencyand the community. I would recommend their services to anyone seeking behavioral or addiction services.
TRASH. If I could give this place negative stars I would. If you want a Doctor's office that is going to answer the phone/call you back when you have important requests or questions stay far away.
Nearly everyone I've met who had to use this armpit of a place was traumatized by it. They treat people like robots.
