Jefferson Park (Bakersfield)

Description

Jefferson Park is a public park located in Bakersfield, California.HistoryLand for the park was purchased by the city on May 24, 1921. On August 22, the land was incorporated into the city's park system (the same day as Central Park). The same day, the bid from MacRorie and McLaren Company was accepted for its development. This also represented part of Bakersfield's early development of East Bakersfield (formerly Sumner and Kern City) which was annexed in 1910.AmenitiesJefferson Park is one of the more equipped parks in the city. It contains one reservable picnic area with lights, barbecue, and a sheltered serving area. There are several other picnic areas, each serving between 8 and 16 people. Most also have a barbecue. There are four lit basketball courts, two lit tennis courts, and lit horseshoe pits. There is also a large open grass area suitable for many lawn sports. There are also two swimming pools and a spray park. One is for general use while the other is for children. There are also restrooms and a playground. The park is also equipped with an open outdoor amphitheater. It is one of two parks with terraced seating on grass. Of the three parks with this type of facility, Jefferson's is the simplest; consisting of a concrete slab and a metal roof.

Great East Bakersfield Festival 2023! Great vendors, great music! Spray park for the kids- it was hot but still a great event!
The pool is great! Only $1/person. Clean pool. Wading pool and lap pool 3ft-7ft. Deep. Several Lifeguards on duty. This park also has a splash pad with several fun features, a large playground, and a lot of shade trees. It is in a rougher part of East Bakersfield so be prepared for that. I think the attractions at this park make up for the fact that it's in the ghetto... especially when it's 116 outside and you want to swim!!
My wife and I use this park on a daily basis. We set up here. And help people obtain SafeLink, life line phones. Jefferson Park is a beautiful clean park, with both, a water feature and a swimming pool. And plenty of toys.
A amphitheatre water spray for kids. Lots of grass. They are improving upon it. One of the nicer parks in East Bakersfield. Has a Bathroom. Councilman Andrae Gonzalez is over this area. And Supervisor Laticia Perez is over area. Let them both know Deidre gave them hi remarks. They care about their parks. As well as their new Parks Director Rick Anthony. They are going to renovate these bathrooms let's check back a year from now an see. Playground: Artistic paint fun for kids Restrooms: Will be renovated. Right now. All I can say is they do have them. Which is a plus. Dog-friendliness: Not a dog park. No dog baggies. You can walk your dog. Picnic area: Very nice. Lots of shaded tables Barbecue: They have them.
Nice clean park was a little sketched out by a teenager who as he was passing myself my sister and 3 small kids he seemed to signal to a group of adults he was with something about us as he called out to them while he gestured to us which made us leave the park... Keep an eye on your surroundings & kids...
Beautiful park, but pool hours are poor, it should be open more hours and charge more to people so life guards can be paid for an entire day
Trying to take my three-year-old daughter to go have some fun and when we got there the water area playground was closed my daughter was upset and it was supposed to be opened
It was clean and nice for recent events. The bathrooms locked because some destroyed all the toilets
The park is clean tends to be nice people there close to my house and safe and lots of trees
I and friends stayed by the car as I walked I noticed this Park needed damage control
