Lovely place to visit, there wasn't a soul around for most of my exploration. The signs were very informative and definitely brought the battle to life. If there are any artifacts from the event, they are long lost to history or simply not emphasized to visitors. This really isn't surprising, it seems to have been a rather short winded skirmish intended to cripple the Yankees on their retreat back North, definitely not a typical battlefield, which only adds to the intrigue. The picnic tables are unusable for the most part, but that had no impact on my visit. Hope to go again.
Small park with great views. Make sure you bring a marker or crayon for the passport station. There is no visitor's center
Amazingly tranquil... nothing like that day during the Civil War were so many lost there lives. Lots of historical markers with facts and stories, a must if your into history, and a cool place to eat lunch at the picnic tables if not
Beautiful and peaceful park! Nice place to have a picnic, relax and learn about the Red River Campaign.
The Camden Expedition was an abysmal failure from the point of view of its planners in Washington. But imagine being one of those people fleeing enslavement with the retreating union army …
It's not a bad park, it just needs some maintenance.. thats the only reason I can only give 2 stars. It needed to be mown, garbage collected, and a few minor repairs.
Cool little park. Has lots of history. Great place for a picnic or a little fishing. Quiet and shady. It's a unmanned park and has no rv hookups or staff to maintain one. It is prone to flooding though. The day we went the river has just went down and the park had recovered nicely from there flood. Overall just a nice place.
First time visit here which i never knew existed. As typical in Arkansas, any and every wide spot in our roads becomes someone's trash dump, this time being a head in a storage tub. It was a rainy day, the river was up and had lots of puddles. Half the trees were either decayed or dying which was an eyesore. You can tell this "state park" isn't near the top of anyone's priority list. Even the signs that have the info about this place was Ankle deep in water. Playground: No playground unless you like mud puddles and downed limbs. Restrooms: Better facilitate before you go since it has none. Dog-friendliness: All dogs would have loved the head in the tub.
Ehh.. just a stop on the road. I love Arkansas State Parks, but you can skip this one unless you are just trying to get them all. Google it and you can learn the history.
Google maps led me down a deer trail I almost totalled out my vehicle
