I just left the Owings Mills JCC to explore membership for seniors. It has many great things but lacks so much more, particularly for seniors. The fitness areas look great and expansive. That’s it for me. I belonged to the JCC when my children were young and we took full advantage of camps, programs and other things that were offered in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I am looking for a place to work out, take some workout classes and meet some people. I was hoping there would be social activities for adults such as card games, lectures, book clubs, classes for those who have hobbies or want to learn about creating new hobbies. These types of activities used to be offered in the “old” days. This JCC is good for families but that seems to be the main and only priority. I am so disappointed that this is NOT a center for the community. I was told the Park Heights campus might offer other activities. I live around the corner from the Owings Mills campus and it would take me 40 minutes to get to Park Heights. Also, Park Heights is not part of my community. I hope in the future there are more options developed for all people, not just for children and young families. Linda Bertell a very disappointed senior who will not be paying over $600 just to take a few exercise classes.
5 stars. An amazing gym. Gym equipment is tops. Love the swimming and there are many classes to choose from. If they install a ladies sauna or steam room I would give it 10 stars !!!!! As that would be the icing on the cake
Perfect place for a family - babysitting for 2 hrs so you can work out/do work, Women’s only classes, and J Play / a place to bring kids. They really work at making it a community center. We end up spending between 2-6 hours a day there…
I work in the babysitting room and I practically grew up here everyone is so nice and there are so many things to do!
I love the group fitness classes. The range of days and times they’re offered and the highly trained and devoted instructors. I also love being able to go for a yummy and reasonably priced kosher meal with my family
The Park Heights JCC is amazing. A great place to exercise where there are separate areas and times for men and women. They are constantly improving and making the space better.
This place is racist!! I have been asked if i was jewish and after saying no I was told i needed to be jewish in order to receive assistance! They aren't even the original jewish ppl so technically i am!! What a disgrace! You need to advertise that you only aide your people.
Friendly and inclusive environment, warm and helpful staff, and the fitness center is state of the art!
The JCC has incredible services and facilities, the membership fee is very reasonable, and I feel comfortable and at home in a predominantly Jewish space.
Ever since covid the jcc has really gone downhill! They are so short staffed with the pool, gym etc... When I ask for a spot at the gym the fitness trainer cant be bothered... Its like the trainers get paid to be on their phone and not be bothered with anything except for getting all in the face about the mask not over the nose. Not to mention no one is really in the gym. Maybe 4 people. The jcc charges an arm and leg for offering not much! I have been coming to the JCC for 20 years and had enough!
