Had several procedures done in the last 3 years and all went extremely well!!! No complaints here. I couldn't have asked for better. I highly recommend this facility. All employees were extremely attentive and super nice. Especially Mary who works in the cardiac unit. SPOTLESS HOSPITAL Thanks again all!!!!
0 stars if possible due to doctor. 3 hours waiting to be discharged because I refuse to have naloxone on my paperwork that I never needed or received. Now they are holding me up from leaving in excruciating pain and pharmacies are all closed. THIS IS THE WORST HOSPITAL EVER. I’ve never seen people treated this way in my life. If you’re not an addict, do NOT come here. That’s who they want to see. Not someone who had a legitimate surgery! Shame on you Doctor!!!!!! After the ER got through with me, my arms sure does look like I’m an addict. Couldn’t even find a vein the first 4 times and my arms are swollen and hurting. I just want to go home. I’ll never be back here again.
This is the worst hospital I have ever had the displeasure of going to. My mom was referred to the ER to see a neurologist and we arrived at 11 AM. We waited for 6 hours before they just put us in a different waiting room. They missed her veins attempting to draw blood and she was badly bruised. We were not offered any food or water and she was not given a room until 10 PM. They made her stay overnight and she was promised an MRI the following morning. She did not receive the MRI until 6 PM the following day. The staff had no idea what was going on, there was no communication whatsoever, and they neglected to give her water until that following afternoon. She was dehydrated and badly sleep deprived. Then they refused to discharge her after her results came back normal. I’ve never seen staff so careless and awful. This whole experience caused her and my whole family immense mental anguish and I urge everyone to stay away from this horrible hospital. This is a pathetic excuse for healthcare.
Unorganized Staff My wife was brought to the emergency room on Monday, July 24, 2023, at approximately 7:45 - 8:00pm. I called 911 because she was confused. I stayed with her until 5:00am. Two of the nurses, Edward and Cindy were very helpful in trying to get to the bottom of her situation. A CT was done, along with an ultrasound. I was told that she was going to be admitted. I came back around 11:00am, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. I was informed that the Neurology team wanted her to have an MRI because her left side appeared to be weak. I left at 2:00pm, to get some rest, and came back at 7:00pm and she still had not had the MRI. The whole time that I’m sitting here, I’m watching my wife, who was not the energetic woman that I know. The information given to me was that if the MRI was clear then she could go home. I requested to speak with the doctor who was in charge and was told that he would be paged. The nurse, who acted like she didn’t want to give me any information when I asked her questions, said that they paged her that my wife would be going for the MRI at 8:00pm. We are still sitting here, waiting at 8:37pm. I’m concerned because my wife is on the verge of being released and she is not herself. I’ve lived with her for 57 years and I know when something is wrong. I titled this Unorganized Staff because a doctor came in and introduced herself and said that she was an internal doctor. She asked who I and my granddaughter was. The first thing she said, was, “So she had a fall?” I said, “No, she didn’t have a fall. Where did you get that information?” Her exact words were, “I’m sorry, I didn’t read the report.” Where is the professionalism? Are you just concerned with charging the patient and not being concerned with the wellbeing of patients? I’m not finished with this yet, because there hasn’t been a remedy. But you folk will hear from me.
Called 911 for my husband having chest pains. He was brought in ER. Given a room. We are here 2 hours still waiting to see a doctor. We spoke to head RN and said they will get to you. Can not believe this is how an. ER is run. Still waiting on doctor over 4 hours!
Horrible, almost dangerous experience. An ER nurse couldn’t find a vein for my IV for a scan with contrast, so she put it in my hand despite her telling me she knows the scan people wouldn’t like it but oh well. I arrive to get my scan and they never told anyone I was there, I sat in the hall u til they asked why I was there. They rejected me over the hand IV because I could have been injured if we used it for the scan. The nurse knew this yet still sent me there like that. I should have left then but I was stuck. Had to find a new nurse after all my vein options had been nearly used up. I was so bruised. They insisted I couldn’t get an MRI while in the ER and would have to come back as an outpatient, then follow up with their nuerology to discuss the MRI. I could barely get the MRI scheduled after being discharged because the doctors never actually sent them the prescription auth, only gave me a paper one. Finally, after my MRI, I called the neuro department, when they finally answered I was spoken down to and told I cannot make an appt with them until I have my GPI don’t have one go over my MRI. That what they told me in the ER was wrong After I complained, they took my number and never called me back. I still haven’t had my MRI reviewed as a result. This hospital should be ashamed of itself, based on all the awful reviews and lack of accountability or change. Time to contact a lawyer.
Nursing staff is awesome. Policies are antiquated; the hospital itself is run down. Overall, stay away from this hospital; this is not the place you go to get better! Disturbing cleanliness in public bathroom’s throughout the hospital inclusive to the emergency patient rooms. The only one thing good about this hospital is the Nursing Staff.
My Mom was being treated at the Cardiac Observation Unit. I have to say that the staff there are the most professional, kind hearted and knowledgeable people I ever came across. I want to thank the team for all that you do Thank- you ! !
This will clearly be a miniseries as I have every intention of following up with my issue and will post a review on behalf of my friend, a patient. My friend was brought to the ER on Wednesday night. I called the hospital Thursday afternoon to find out if he was allowed to have visitors. I called the main number, listened to the prompts and chose patient information. When the operator answered the phone, I simply asked if my friend was allowed to have visitors. She said nothing to me I was just transferred to another line. A woman answered the phone and stated ER department., So I asked her if my friend was allowed to have visitors, without a word from her, she transferred me to another line where the phone just rang and rang, so I hung up and I called back. When she answered the phone, I said “hello I just called here and”, that’s all I got out without a word from her I was placed on hold. After about five minutes I hung up and called ER again, and I said, “ can I please speak with your supervisor”, and once again, without a word from her, I was put on hold again. No, I wasn’t giving up! I then checked the hospitals directories to see what department I could call to make a complaint about this woman, I have no name because she never said who she was, and wound up calling the Department of Patient Experience. I got a voicemail and I left a message, but I had remembered in the beginning of that voicemail it said if you need immediate assistance, you can call the main number and ask for the nursing supervisor on duty. I called back the main number and asked for the nursing on duty, I was transferred and got a voicemail. Out of the office, yada, yada, yada, but if you need immediate assistance, you can call the main number and ask for the nursing supervisor on duty. My original question had never been answered. Can my friend have visitors? So I called the main number again and said, this is the 5th phone call I’ve made to get an answer for a very simple question, may I speak to the nursing supervisor on duty. My two previous calls to the main number operator, she never felt it necessary to speak, but she did want to point out that she didn’t think it was five phone calls because she only spoke to me one time before… Unprofessional, yes. She was not aware of the phone calls I made to the ER department, Nor did she need to be privy to it either. I was then transferred to Arlene. I very briefly explained what I had just went through and mentioned to her that I still don’t have an answer. So she looked it up for me and she said that he could not have visitors right now. I said thank you and hung up. That was the end of it, for today that is, by far not the end of hearing from me. AND woman in the ER, if you’re reading this, I will go all the way to the Director of that hospital just to see to it that you’re sent to some sort of customer service training classes. And by the way, if you don’t like your job…then just leave and stop bothering the rest of us. Stay tuned.
JFK is by far the filthiest hospital I ever experienced. I wouldn't go here to have my temperature checked. Staff is combative and unprofessional especially in the housekeeping department. Go to St. Peter's Hospital, Trinitas or even RWJ is better. This hospital is maintained as a charity write-off. They won't even repair their escalators. Should be shut down and condemned. I reported numberious health violations to the Joint Commission. Pipes break regularily and cause flooding all the time. I witnessed a Housekeeper manager leave bloodied linens in the hallway!
