I like going to this gym, the only thing I dont like is that the pool hours are only from 5am.-12 noon . I feel like those ours are not good for people who work early . I wish they would leave it open longer. They say the bigger pool is open that is outdoor but honestly I like to swim in the gym because it is more relaxing than the out door one where there are also families using the pool. I also like to use the gym to workout.
It's so hot in here, so everyone is walking around really sweaty. If you get there after 4 pm, it will be packed. I wish there was some kind of music playing so it's not so quiet and awkward while working out if you don't have headphones. Spin class on T/Thu is only $3 per class. The staff is really friendly though.
It's an OK fitness center but the sauna is low temp and the male showers are open bay with no stalls. Due to the educational campus nature of the base this means they are literally unusable.
Needs longer pool hours regardless if outdoor pool is open or not, and boxing gym equipment i.e. punching bags, double end bags, speed bags, with soft cushiony floor to absorb impact from jumping rope, or shadow boxing, etc.
Decent sized gym on post. Has a lot of equipment, but would prefer if the cross training room was larger. But if you want to lift weights particularly with machines or run on ample cardio equipment, this is the gym for you.
Large gym with lots of equipment, a pool, basketball court. 24 hour access is available when the computers are working. Can get crowded in morning and afternoons.
Good fitness facility, great friendly staffs, but some sections of the gym needs some updated. This is a 24h accessible if you register
great experience, clean equipment, 10/10 gym, there's a lot of military guys that work out here so if it's good enough for them it's definitely good enough for ANY member of the public. Staff here are a little thick-skulled though for sure
Been using this gym for the past 18 months since arriving here. Might just be the worst maintained gym I've ever seen in the Army. Not sure if it's because of the Joint Base construct and an Army Gym just isn't a priority for the Air Force who manages the joint bases here, but it seems like every week there's a new catastrophe. They closed the gymnasium part basketball courts, cardio/ab area, pullup bars, punching bag about 4 + months ago because the roof had a leak during some rain which made it "unsafe". They've been "working" on the roof ever since. Putting aside the fact that the roof has leaked since I've been here and portions of the floor had been roped off because of buckling that entire time, it's somehow no longer safe even though it's no worse than it has always been. I inquired about how long it would be closed since its closure contributes to the overcrowding in the rest of the gym and was told they were going to replace the entire floor while they were at it. No idea how long that'll take if it's even in the works, but that area remains closed indefinitely. At the end of December the boiler broke down which occurs frequently anyway so there's been no hot water for nearly a month now. Keep in mind this is essentially the main gym on base. Where most people work out in the morning before reporting for duty. Want a hot shower before heading to work? Go somewhere else. Last Saturday I went to use the ab room and found a class being conducted there. The only ab room in the gym since the gymnasium portion is closed mind you, and it was closed because a class was being conducted. No outsiders could use the equipment during the class. It's just one thing after another. I'm a serious gym user. Have been for years. I go 7 days a week unless I'm sick or out of town. The Army talks a good game about holistic health and fitness but doesn't put their money where their mouth is. Shame really.
One of my favorite public gyms in Texas, my buddy Noel told me about it and it's been a great way to get away from my nag wife. Guy at the gate is kinda weird and always says my Uber driver can't come in but I can't emphasize just how public this gym is. #vanlife
