We visited Jimmy's Egg on Sunday morning at around 9:30. The wait was quoted at about 20 minutes, we were sat after 30 minutes or so. The lobby very small with no real host stand, which makes it hard to enter and put your name in. Our waitress was great and attentive given the busy restaurant. The food was decent, and what I would expect from a chain diner. I had the queso burrito below, and my girlfriend had the farmers skillet, both were good. The cinnamon roll pancakes were supposed to be the highlight but fell a bit short for me, they were overly sweet. Overall an okay experience, but wouldn't make a special trip out here.
Price, value, service and food were all amazing. So in love with this place. Have eaten here three days in a row while visiting on vacation. Can't get enough of this place. Their food is consistently good every morning and the service is great. Always busy but always seems to be enough room for everyone even during COVID - outside seating was even nice for someone who doesn't like sitting outside.
I like counter breakfast places. Bonus star for that. I had the Carnitas Queso Skillet came out fast and was temp hot. A bit bland with no real flavors standing out except for the creamy good queso. Friday Morning after a holiday and I had the counter to myself. So attention was prompt and readily available. As a traveler I choose this over IHOP on my first morning of breakfasts. I think it was the better choice
I've been here a couple of times and the service has been top notch and the food is amazing. My server today was Jamie and she was probably the nicest, quickest, most engaged server I've had at any restaurant in a while. I noticed some reviewers said the tables aren't very clean, which is understandably irritating, but there are always so many people coming in and out because it's a great place!! Picture is the Carnitas Queso Skillet
Initial take was great but subsequent stop not so good. After finding a big strand of HAIR in my omlett I had to wait an additional 6 minutes while it was remade and then only compensated $1.50 for this unpleasant and unappetizing dining experience. I would expect better from a new and upcoming business. There are too many other places to get breakfast in this area. Doubt I'll dine there again. Sad too because it's the closest to me.
Our saturday morning stop at this Waukee restaurant was a happy and satisfying experience. The menu was varied and informative. Wait staff was competent and friendly. The food was very tasty. Portions were somewhat smaller than expected.
Service was really good. She did well for dealing with a one year old at the table. Food was also great.
Excellent food and service. Nice having a great breakfast place close to home in Waukee. This is our new breakfast spot!
Dinned on a Sunday morning, place was packed. We had about a 7 min wait for a table for a party of 2, so not bad, but I couldn't imagine how long of a wait it'd be for 3+ people. Also worth mentioning, we walked in before churches let out, and we walked out through a sea of people waiting to be seated around 10:45. The staff carries coffee pots with them to freshen anybody up as needed, so they were awesome about keeping our coffee mugs filled, and even offered to fill to-go cups after running the bill. I ordered chicken and waffle + eggs The chicken strips were kind of small, but the waffle and eggs were great! Also got a side order of grits cause I was curious, they were pretty decent, and very buttery. So overall good. Only had two complaints: When we asked for a little more time with the menu we nearly felt forgotten. A different waitress attempted to bring our food to the table next to us, and brought it back to the kitchen when they turned it down, but our waitress caught it and brought it right back out. She also took a few dollars off the bill to make up for the mistake without us even complaining, so she was awesome. Great place for breakfast! They also have a bunch of specialty pancakes you can also get mini versions of. Maybe call to see if they have a wait if it's Sunday morning.
Good, but believe it or not don't order the eggs. The cinammon pancake is the way to go!
